Bottom Line

Located just outside of the village of Positano, the mid-range Palazzo Marzoli Resort offers magnificent views of the village and sea. The hotel offers a free seasonal shuttle into town, which makes the out-of-town location less of an issue in the summer. The 12 guest rooms are charming with a blue and white theme and amenities like flat-screen TVs, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and furnished balconies. Breakfast is included in room rates and is served in guests' rooms. A highlight here is the rooftop solarium with hot tub, sun loungers, and bar service. Guests can also receive massage treatments in their rooms. Hotel Palazzo Murat is another option to consider with a more central location, fewer stairs, an on-site restaurant, and outdoor swimming pool.

Palazzo Marzoli Resort

Scene

Charming seaside hotel with stunning views and rooftop solarium

Housed in a historic mansion dating back to the 1600s, Palazzo Marzoli Resort is a charming seaside hotel. Its slightly out of town location on a cliff face at the top of the Positano village means that it enjoys magnificent views overlooking the village and sea. Guests are welcomed off the main road into a small, yet character filled lobby. Decor includes a large historic world map, small wooden reception desk, antique light fittings, and a few potted plants. The hallways and stairways are quite narrow which could be tricky with maneuvering luggage, though there is also an elevator. The only common area is the rooftop solarium, which includes a hot tub, seating, sun loungers, and parasols -- an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the ocean views. Guests here are mostly couples, and the rooms book out quite far in advance during the high season.

The nearby towns of Sorrento and Pompeii are 30 minutes and an hours' drive away, respectively. The nearest bus stop is a two-minute walk away. The Positano Port is a seven-minute drive.
