Amadi Panorama Hotel

The Amadi Panorama Hotel is located on the island of Ijburg, which is part of a group of six man-made islands. This new district of Amsterdam was developed in 2002, and features futuristic and ultra-modern architecture. The hotel occupies the top three floors of an eight-story building with a curved facade that wraps around the street corner. The lower floors are taken up by residential apartments, and the building's entrance and ground floor entry area are shared by the apartments and the hotel. Reception is located on the eighth floor: From the elevator, guests step through glass doors into a light-filled space with simple and stylish decor. Large windows let in plenty of natural light and frame scenic views of the waterscape and city skyline. An ultra-modern, industrial-chic look of parquet floors and exposed ductwork in ceilings, give a stylish backdrop to the reception counters and contemporary furniture in pale wood. Hanging lamps of shiny copper-colored spheres add a little bit of glimmer. This property appeals to travelers looking for an alternative to generic chain hotels, and it's popular with leisure and business travelers alike.

Guest rooms are simple and stylish, with a subdued color palette of pale grays and beiges and clean-lined modular wood furniture finished in pale tones. Pearl-gray carpeting covers the floors, with gray or beige patterned wallpaper on the walls. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light, and many rooms have Juliet balconies with views stretching over the water across to the city center. Rooms range from Deluxe Single Rooms up to Deluxe Family Rooms with four beds; there's also a Bridal Suite with a soaking tub placed next to a picture window with city views. 

Standard amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with internet access, Nespresso coffeemakers, electric kettles, and minibars with free soft drinks and beer. Other handy extras include laptop-sized safes, bathrobes, and slippers, but there are no ironing facilities. The bathrooms are tiled in beige and come with vessel sinks and walk-in rainfall showers, plus towel-warming racks, hairdryers, and magnifying mirrors. Wall-mounted shampoo/body wash combos are the only toiletries offered. In some units, vanities are right in the main part of the rooms. Note that some past guests have complained of signs of wear and tear, like stained carpets, and cracked mirrors.

Facilities are limited at the Amadi, and the only meal served on-site is a breakfast buffet (for a fee). The spread includes hot and cold dishes such as omelets, scrambled eggs, and pancakes, and some organic and fair-trade products. There's free coffee and tea available in the reception area throughout the day, and guests can also purchase beverages like soft drinks, water, beer, and wine here. A computer and printer is also available for guest use in the reception area. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
