This 37-room boutique hotel has charm to spare, especially for a budget property. The lobby is like a museum of traditional Dutch style, chockfull of antiques and conversation pieces including a suit of armor, a burly grandfather clock, beautifully carved roundabout chairs, even a small cannon. Unfortunately, none of that flair made it to the guest rooms, which are dated, a bit dowdy, and have few amenities, though some have wonderful canal views and large windows. The very steep, narrow stairs and lack of an elevator are also off-putting to some. Those looking for more stylish rooms should consider the Boutique Hotel View, overlooking a quieter canal nearby.
