Novotel Amsterdam City

The 16-story Novotel Amsterdam City was built in 1971, with its last renovation completed in 2010. This large hotel is often busy and its public spaces are usually milling with people. The spacious lobby is airy and bright thanks to large glass windows and high ceilings. The space is furnished in a modern, cheery style with white glass partitions, contemporary sofas, lime-green walls and chairs, and potted plants. Most guests staying here are business travelers attending conferences in the hotel complex or the nearby RAI Convention Center. Flight crews also often stay here because of the hotel's proximity to Amsterdam Schiphol airport. The hotel also gets a fair number of vacationing families, owing to the Novotel chain's family-friendly features.

Novotel Amsterdam City is located outside the city center, in an industrial park with lots of large multistory buildings. The RAI subway and train station is just a few minutes' walk away, with direct connections to the city center.

The guest rooms at Novotel Amsterdam City are spacious with large windows that let in plenty of sunlight. All guest rooms are equipped with sofa beds, a selection of different pillows, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, docking stations for portable devices, mini-fridges stocked with drinking, and electric kettles. Irons and ironing boards are stored in the wardrobes, and there are hairdryers in the bathrooms. The Executive Rooms located on the 15th floor include a few notable extras including bathrobes, slippers, Nespresso coffeemakers, and luxury toiletries. Bathrooms are covered in tile and fitted with shower/tub combos and molded sinks. Connecting rooms are also available for families. 

Novotel Amsterdam City doesn't have an on-site swimming pool, but it does offer dining options and free access to the wellness center. The buffet breakfast (not included in the room rate) offers a wide spread of hot and cold dishes, with gluten-free and vegetarian options. As part of the hotel's family-friendly policies, up to two children under the age of 16 can eat breakfast for free if accompanying their parents. Breakfast is served at the on-site restaurant, URBN FOOD & DRINK, which is open throughout the day and offers an international lunch and dinner menu catering also to kids, vegetarians, and those who follow gluten-free and salt-free diets. The highlight of the bar-lounge is its 49-foot bar, where alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, tapas, and homemade sushi are served.

Access to the hotel's wellness center is free for guests and includes a modestly sized fitness center equipped with a few weight machines, as well as treadmills, ellipticals, and exercise bikes. Guests can also make use of the sauna and relaxation rooms for free, even if they aren't getting a massage. There's also a special play area for children, and kids get a welcome gift. The hotel's on-site convention center covers an area of 14,000 square feet and has 17 meeting rooms available. Other services include on-site parking (for a fee), and bicycle rentals. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Pets are welcome for a fee.
