Bottom Line

The 190-room Castle Inn and Suites has a facade that resembles a castle and a Renaissance-themed lobby. The hotel's location is its biggest draw, just steps from Disneyland and near many affordable chain restaurants. Rooms are spacious and clean, but dated, and come with coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and microwaves. There is an outdoor pool, whirlpool, and children's pool on-site. The fourth-floor balcony is an excellent viewing point for the Disneyland fireworks, but there's no on-site gym or restaurant.

Castle Inn and Suites

Scene

Castle-themed value hotel

The Castle Inn and Suites has a facade designed to resemble a castle. On the inside, the bright lobby has a Renaissance theme, complete with a throne, tapestries, and a knight in shining armor. Disney characters also make an appearance. This is a family-friendly hotel, with a somewhat noisy atmosphere from all the excitement that surrounds visiting Disneyland.

Location

A few blocks from Disneyland and near affordable restaurants

The Castle Inn and Suites is located on Harbor Boulevard, just a few short blocks from Disneyland and most guests of the hotel walk to the Disneyland gates. Shops and a large variety of chain restaurants such as Bubba Gump and The Cheesecake Factory are located around the corner. Harbor Boulevard, though busy, is still pretty, lined with palm trees and landscaping on the median islands. The area is very tourist friendly and very convenient for families visiting Disneyland as well.

Rooms

Family-focused rooms lack style

Guests of Castle Inn and Suites can pick from 145 rooms and 55 family suites, the latter of which come with or without inner doors, allowing families to have as much or as little privacy as needed. All have mini-fridges and coffeemakers, and all except the standard rooms have a microwave. Rooms are spacious and clean, but decor is dated: dark-wood paneled walls, burgundy bed coverings, and thinning carpeting is typical. In keeping with the hotel theme, there's a castle print in each room. Some of the bathrooms have issues: reports of inconsistent water temperatures and banging sounds are common complaints.
