Bottom Line

The 328-room Apartamentos NuriaSol is a mid-range property located in a mostly quiet residential area about a five-minute walk to the beach. Apartments are spacious, albeit a bit dated, though they come with fully equipped kitchens, washers, and flat-screen TVs. Not all rooms promise balconies, though, and some rooms let in traffic noise. This family-friendly hotel has a poolside playground and a small children's pool, plus a main though -- though it's small for the size of the hotel and surrounding loungers often go quickly. A buffet eatery and two bars with billiards are convenient, and free Wi-Fi adds value. Visitors looking for more amenities, a bigger pool area, and direct beach access might find Sunset Beach Club to be a suitable alternative.

Apartamentos NuriaSol

Scene

Unassuming hotel among other apartment buildings

Located in a predominantly residential area, the aparthotel blends in among other apartment buildings. Inside, the lobby has lots going on with its checkered granite flooring, black-and-white columns, and brochure racks about activities and things to do in the area. Lots of wicker seating -- a bit worn looking -- are set up, but the overall look is disjointed and dated. This vibe continues into the granite-outfitted hallways and rooms, as well as the checkered red-and-yellow stone tiling by the pool. The property sees nearly even numbers of couples and families, and the atmosphere is generally laid-back.

Location

In a residential area, walking distance to beach and restaurants

Apartamentos NuriaSol is not in a particularly bustling part of town, being in a residential area, but it is a short walking distance to quite a few spots. Los Boliches, a beach and shopping area with lots of bars and restaurants, is just a five-minute walk away. A train station can also be found there. The popular Fuengirola Street Market is a long 45-minute walk away, but only a seven-minute drive. A supermarket is also located just below the apartment complex, making self-catering even easier.

Rooms

Spacious apartments with lots of amenities

Similar to the lobby, the apartment-style rooms have a mismatched mix of styles and patterns that overall feels dated. The busy granite floors match the countertops of the kitchenettes, while cabinets are painted pale-yellow and there's a still life strip of backsplash. Living areas have wooden furniture and gray sofas, but the lack of color or artwork feels bland. Bedrooms, however, are a bit more modern; they have tufted leather headboards and contemporary two-tone bedside tables, though the old-fashioned dressers clash a bit. Overlooking these quirks, rooms are spacious and the kitchens are well-equipped with fridges, stovetops, ovens, washers, dishwashers, and all the necessary cookware and dishes.

Standard amenities also include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Many rooms have furnished balconies, though some are a bit tight on space. Bathrooms have granite floors and counters and marble walls, plus come equipped with either shower/tub combos or small stall showers, bidets, and free bath products. There are no hairdryers, though. Some previous guests have complained of rooms letting in outside noise.

Features

Main pool, kiddy pool, and on-site dining

There aren't many entertainment options, but the hotel does have a main pool that's popular and gets lots of sun. However, it's on the smaller side and the loungers tend to get scooped up quickly. Also by here is a small kiddy pool, a playground, and a billiards table. The pool bar offers drinks and snacks throughout the day, and provides a shaded area for guests to sit. Other dining can be had at the main buffet eatery and adjacent bar.

The on-site gym is really just a handful of equipment and free weights next to two saunas and a large steam room. Aside from that, the few other amenities include free Wi-Fi, two stocked bookcases, and two computers in the lobby for guest use. Pet-friendly hotels aren't common in the area, but Apartamentos NuriaSol welcomes furry friends that fit their weight limit.
