Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range H10 Estepona Palace is a beachfront property located a five-minute drive from the town center. The 237 rooms are contemporary but some are more attractive and coordinated than others. All come equipped with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, and furnished balconies. Notable features for both kids and adults include three pools -- one for kids -- an excellent and expansive spa, seasonal kids' club, and fitness center. The hotel also has four restaurants and bars plus all-inclusive packages, though two are outdoors and only open seasonally. It may be worth comparing prices with H10 Andalucia Plaza for guests who want to be walking distance from restaurants and bars in a livelier city.

H10 Estepona Palace

Scene

Beachfront property with elegant interiors and tropical exteriors

Situated along the coast, H10 Estepona Palace has a relaxed vibe and stylish interiors that appeal a bit more to couples than families -- though they're still well-catered to. The manicured grounds are lovely, filled with palm trees, terra-cotta decks, and bright-blue pools. The whitewashed buildings are architecturally interesting with their pointed towers and cutouts in a variety of shapes. Inside, the design is elegant, as spaces are filled will marble tiling, exposed wood beams, earth-tone modern seating, and Andy-Warhol-esque Marilyn Monroe prints along the walls. There are lots of cozy, inviting seating areas both inside and out.

Location

Direct beach access but somewhat remote location

The H10 Estepona Palace is situated along the coast, with direct beach access. It's about a five-minute drive (20-minute walk) to the town center, and an 11-minute walk to the marina, where there are some quality restaurants and bars. Rooms

Rooms are contemporary, if a bit uninspired

Aesthetically, there are similarities between the 237 rooms -- all are contemporary, bright, and spacious. The design consists of beige tile-flooring and matching walls, a mix of metal and wooden furniture, and beds with white sheets, maroon throws, and blue bed skirts. The only rooms that vary from this are the Privilege Rooms, which have a more sophistical neutral-tone palette. Headboards are large abstract pieces of art and add much-needed character to the space. All rooms have sitting areas with two chairs and a table, and some add couches.

All rooms have furnished balconies, some of which are large and have gorgeous sea views. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, and ample closet space, while Privilege Rooms add Nespresso coffee machines, iPod docks, free safes, bathrobes, and slippers. Most bathrooms are modern and beige, though some have old-fashioned white and blue tiling. All come with shower/tub combos, bidets, hairdryers, and free bath products.

Features

Kid-friendly spaces, plus spa and fitness facilities

The H10 Estepona Palace offers ample facilities for both adults and children. Guests have direct access to a private beach, which is lined with loungers and parasols, however some have complained that it's quite rocky. For more swimming, there are two pools for adults, one of which is heated during winter, and a separate pool for children. A seasonal kids' club is also available, as are a playground and outdoor games that include ping pong and foosball. The fitness center is well-equipped and modern, and there's a tennis court. The expansive spa has numerous treatment rooms, a thermal pool and whirlpool, and steam and sauna rooms. Wi-Fi is free throughout.

There are four on-site restaurants and bars for those eating on-site, but two of them are seasonal. Alboran is the buffet restaurant with show cooking, while Thalassa is a poolside spot serving snacks and drinks for lunch in the summer. A lobby bar is open year-round, and the Mediterraneo Chill-Out Terrace has gorgeous panoramic views of the sea, but it's closed during winter months. Food across the board receives positive reviews and all-inclusive packages are available. Privilege-room guests have access to a lounge with free drinks and snacks during the day, as well as an exclusive solarium.
