The whitewashed complex is modern and well-kept, with beautiful views from apartment balconies, which suits families with kids who are looking for a peaceful home base from which to explore the Costa del Sol. The striking, whitewashed Hotel Fuerte Calaceite clings to the side of the hills overlooking the Costa del Sol coast road and beaches. There is no lobby, per se. The only hotel-like public area is the swimming pool, situated on a patch of grass with a few lounge chairs, and shady umbrella-like huts scattered around. The apartment complex consists of several buildings connected by tiled pathways running up and down the slopes. A wooden stairway leads down the rocky cliff face to the peaceful gray sand beach below. All apartments have private terraces, many of which have sea or sunset views. There is a nice beach restaurant reachable via a walk along the coast, but, otherwise, the peaceful area is purely residential.

The Fuerte Calaceite is a good base for day trips to Malaga, Granada, and other points of interest. This location is not recommended for business travelers. A small beach is about 215 yards away.
