Hotel La Casa

As its name ("la casa" translates to "the home") implies, this is a family-run property that provides a charming and intimate stay with just eight rooms. Tucked down a quiet alley among whitewashed buildings, a small staircase leads visitors down to the entryway of Hotel La Casa. Street-facing Juliet-style balconies add some charm to the simple exterior, while interiors are filled with lovely pieces of artwork, a packed bookcase, and wrought-iron seating. The well-reviewed Spanish restaurant is more subdued, with brown wicker furniture and wooden floors, though blue-and-white tiling up half the walls adds character. A solarium is a standout, thanks to its gorgeous vistas of the surrounding hills. There's not a ton to keep busy on-site, but it's a great pick for travelers wanting a quiet and small property to call home on vacation.

Hotel La Casa's central Torrox location is ideal for visitors who like to be close to the action, but not in the middle of a noisy city center. Plaza Constitución is a quick four-minute walk from the hotel, and the surrounding area promises plentiful options for both dining, drinking, and shopping. On the downside for those wanting to visit the beach, Playa de Torrox Beach is not within walking distance, and takes about 15 minutes by car to reach. Other beach options, like Playa Burriana and Papagayo Beach, and Capistrano Playa are closer to 20-minute drives. Malaga Airport is a 50-minute drive. 

The hotel's eight guest rooms are individually decorated, though all have a homey and clean look. Furniture ranges from traditional wrought-iron to more modern pieces, though all are well-maintained. All rooms have beige-tile floors and white walls to keep spaces bright, while varying artwork and linens in either neutral hues or bright red create personality. One suite is located on the top floor and it has its own private balcony and living area. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, wardrobes, and flat-screen TVs, but there are no mini-fridges or kettles. Bathroom are sleek and modern, each with a curtained shower/tub combo and free bath products. Note that some rooms face the communal terrace, which could cause privacy issues.

Although lacking a pool, Hotel La Casa does have a large sun terrace with lovely vistas of the hillside and surrounding village. It's lined with plenty of lounge furniture, including sunbeds, couches, and dining sets. For a little relief from the sun, there are a few umbrellas and a semi-shaded pergola. A standout is the restaurant serving Spanish cuisine for lunch and dinner, receiving great reviews from past diners. Breakfast is served in an atrium space and it's free for children under 10 years old. Although rooms lack kettles, a 24-hour honesty bar is set up with coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages. There are no full spa or gym, but a massage room is available. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
