Bottom Line

Melia Costa del Sol is a mid-range resort that sits on the popular Bajondillo beach in Torrelominos, Spain. The nine-story hotel has clean, spacious, if slightly dated, rooms that are all equipped with sea-view outdoor terraces (except for the ground-floor accommodations). Sitting on the oceanfront promenade, Melia Costa del Sol has extremely easy access to the beach. The hotel has a pool surrounded by sun beds that guests can rent for a fee. There are a buffet restaurant, gastrobar, and lobby bar on the premises.

Melia Costa del Sol

Scene

A mid-range beachfront resort with a mix of modern and classic styles

Melia Costa del Sol is a mid-range hotel that is situated right on the water. The style of the decor is inconsistent throughout, as modern and renovated design (in the lobby) coexists with an older, more classic look of the past (in the attractive, but slightly dated, rooms). The lobby is definitely a high point, with its chic, cushioned wicker furniture, marble tiles, and abundant natural light. The exterior of the hotel looks a lot more dated than the interior. Melia Costa del Sol is not only suitable for families and couples seeking the sun and the sea, but also for the business traveler (especially during non-peak season). Couples are the most prevalent, however.

All of the rooms (except some ground floor units) have private terraces and ocean views. The rooms are spacious and clean with tasteful, traditional (if slightly dated) furnishings. Picture striped comforters and chairs, carpets, and basic wood furniture and doors (it looks like the style of oak that was popular in the '90s). Amenities include flat-screen TVs and minibars, but no coffee/tea makers (though they are available for a fee). Wi-Fi, at least, is free.
