Rooms have modern amenities such as air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges, but Wi-Fi and safes come at a cost. In general, this hotel caters primarily to couples, so families may prefer the more kid-friendly Apartamentos NuriaSol nearby.
Location
Beachfront location, walking distance to attractions, bars, and restaurants
The Occidental Fuengirola has a great location on Fuengirola's famous promenade, about a 15-minute walk from the main town center and bus station. Guests are a quick two-minute walk from the beach, plus there are countless restaurants, bars, and attractions nearby. The popular zoo, Bioparc Fuengirola, is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel, while both the Fuengirola Adventure Golf and Sohail Castle are a 12-minute walk away. Costa Water Park is two minutes by foot and the Fuengirola Street Market is a quick five minutes. Malaga airport is just over a 20-minute drive from the hotel.
Features
Pool, wellness facilities, and multiple dining options
While there's plenty to do outside the hotel doors, there are substantial facilities on-site as well. Aside from beach access -- which is a big draw for many guests -- the main outdoor pool is well-sized, surrounded by plenty of free sunbeds and umbrellas, and has a seasonal pool bar next to it. Spa facilities include a jacuzzi, sauna, and massage rooms, and there is also a beauty salon on the property; all of these features will cost extra, though.
All rates include a buffet breakfast, and there are multiple bars and restaurant throughout the property. Food at the buffet restaurant receives many complaints for its cold to lukewarm temperature, however. Half-board packages can be purchased. Wi-Fi is free and reliable in the lobby.
