The 324-room Playaballena Spa Hotel is a chain property with amenities typical of other hotels of this size. The best part of the hotel is its ideal location right next to the beach. Although the rooms are spacious and all come with a balcony, their decor could use a revamping. The large outdoor pool, separate children's pool, and spa are nice features, but can get crowded during high season. The hotel is located seven miles from the city center and commercial shopping area of Rota, so guests will need a far if they want to make their way into town.
Scene
Chain, beachfront hotel
This large hotel offers a relaxed setting for guests and is a short walk to the beautiful beaches. Daytime and evening entertainment is available for both adults and children. Families frequent the hotel and can take advantage of the children’s pool and game areas. The courtyard-like lobby and public areas are bright and open and have unique features like birdcages and a marble staircase. Although it’s mainly catered toward tourists, locals often are present and it does get crowded in the pool, beach, and dining areas.
Location
Beachfront property in a residential area
An appealing feature of the Playaballena Spa Hotel is its setting on the beach, making it a quick walk down to the sandy ocean. The historical center of Rota is seven miles away, so guests wanting to travel into town may want to rent a car. Parking at the hotel is available for a fee.
