Bottom Line

The four-pearl Beach Villas at Meads Bay are like a home away from home: that is, if home is a two-bedroom, beach-front villa with a private pool and patio set amid lush tropical landscaping. The four upscale accommodations make it easy to enjoy the slow-paced Anguillan vibe, though the atmosphere isn't wholly private as a result of its being wedged between two different, larger properties. The villas are perfect for those wanting a relaxing, simple vacation on one of the most beautiful beaches in Anguilla, though anyone looking for a bit more action should check out Frangipani next door, which offers a number of water sports and an adjacent restaurant and bar.

Meads Bay Beach Villas

Scene

Serene and quiet, attracting honeymooners and older couples

The scene at Meads Bay Beach Villas is serene -- to say the least -- and guests are often found lounging in their private pools or taking a dip in the perfectly blue waters of Meads Bay. There are only four villas here, so nights are generally quiet and uneventful. Common spaces are few and far between, though the lobby has a distinctly living room-like atmosphere, setting the tone for the overall homey, upscale vibe here. The lobby is not so much a social hub as a comfortable place to wait before checking into the spacious villas, and there are a few wicker pieces of furniture set up in the neutral-toned space. Honeymooners, older couples, and families are frequent visitors here.

Location

On beautiful Meads Bay, within 15 minutes of the airport

The villas are sandwiched between two larger properties on the sandy beach at Meads Bay, a pristine shoreline that houses a number of other beachfront restaurants and hotels. This includes popular Blanchard’s, which has both an informal shack and a sit-down restaurant, about a ten-minute walk away. Straw Hat is next door and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Otherwise, restaurants like Da’Vida are within a 15-minute drive or less, and there is a local grocer about two minutes away by car. The international airport takes 15 minutes to reach by car.

Rooms

Modern, beachy, and homey, with patios and plunge pools

Granite counter tops, West Indian tiling, and wooden cathedral ceilings add a special touch to the already spacious and classy villas. Each feature large and bright two-and-a-half bathrooms, two bedrooms with big, soft beds, and a comfortable living room with flat-screen TVs. The look is beachy and homey, with neutral tones throughout -- from off-white upholstery to tilework -- though pops of trendy slate blue and other hues add a welcome dash of color that gives the villas their modern flair. Villas also come with a small private pool and patio. The kitchens are remarkably well-equipped, with a stock that includes a handful of appliances, dishware, and a stovetop and oven. Bathrooms likewise look lifted from an upscale home, with rich tiling, sharp chrome fixtures and walk-in showers. Some bathrooms have standalone sinks, while others have a decent amount of marble counterspace -- toiletries and towels are provided.

Depending on its location, each villa comes with its pros and cons -- like the beachfront villa, which is literally steps from the sand but lacks the privacy of the other villas. Privacy may be a general concern for some, as the villas are quite close to the two larger adjacent properties -- a resort on one side and high-rise condominiums on the other.

Features

Stunning beach, private pools, and free Wi-Fi

The villas are the main feature at this property, as they are equipped to meet all the needs of guests for a few days to several weeks, and come with personal pools and shaded patios. Beyond these private amenities is Meads Bay, considered one of the prettiest beaches on the island and stretching for a 10-minute walk in either direction. The water is a clear sky blue, the sand is perfectly white, and the surf is calm and swimmable. The hotel offers snorkeling equipment and beach chairs for hotel guests. Other than that, there is little on offer here for guests -- there's no restaurant, bar, spa, or fitness center. Wi-Fi is free and functional throughout the property.
