With so many reviews of so many different hotels, scanning our city guides can sometimes lead to information overload—so our new series, Stay Here, Not There takes the guess work out of finding the right hotel for your trip. Today we’re looking at where to stay to best enjoy late summer in style in Miami.

The Trip: Enjoying Miami’s South Beach—but during the historically slow month of September when deals abound.

The Demands: Beach access, a decidedly Miami scene and plenty of value-per-dollar.

The Options: Three Morgans Hotels are on sale through September 30: the Delano Hotel, the Mondrian South Beach and the Shore Club.

The Breakdown: The Delano, befitting its celebrity guests and Ian Schrager pedigree, still buzzes with action and is a stalwart of the South Beach party scene with a giant infinity pool, multiple bars and an in-hotel nightclub offering bottle service and a velvet rope so tight even guests have trouble skirting it. By day, beachgoers find themselves just steps from the beach, and the hotel’s location also puts it in the middle of SoBe’s restaurant scene. All the excitement comes at a cost, though: The Delano reportedly starts at $315 a night during the Morgans promotion, though the best price we could find was $365 a night.

The Shore Club, too, has its share of scene, with a party-focused pool at the center of the action and multiple bars picking up the slack. Celebs have dropped in on its two big-name restaurants, Ago and Nobu. Like the Delano, it’s steps from the beach but comes in a bit cheaper, with rooms currently starting at $270 a night in September.

While the Mondrian South Beach is just as high style—if not quite as boozy—as the other properties, it’s a five-minute cab ride from the beach. Not too far, to be sure, but both other hotels have direct access to the sand. Still, the Mondrian’s location means it’s the cheapest of the three, currently starting at $215 a night during the promo.

Our Pick: While the Delano is certainly a definitive Miami experience, the non-stop party may not be worth the price. Besides, the similarly situated Shore Club is cheaper. The Mondrian may be the most tranquil of the bunch—ideal for a sleepy summer retreat—but its distance from the Atlantic is a deal breaker. The best buy for this trip is the Shore Club.
