Easter Sunday in Miami Beach is always a party. If you’re traveling with your family for the holiday, here’s what to do:
Brunch: The traditional Sunday brunch gets a gourmet update at South Florida restaurants, including Hakkasan’s tender steamed dumplings at the Fontainebleau Resort, Nemo’s whole roast suckling pig, and Sakaya Kitchen’s kimchee scrambled eggs. Just be sure to make reservations well in advance.
Easter Egg Hunt: An Easter Eggstravaganza at the tropical theme park Jungle Island kicks off April 2, 3, and 4 with three days of egg hunts that include 50,000 eggs stuffed with 800 pounds of candy and prizes. Located just minutes away from South Beach, the animal preserve is home to colorful tropical birds, alligators, jungle cats, African penguins, and chimpanzees. Easter weekend events run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include visits by Babar the Elephant, Pepe the Parrot, and the one and only Easter Bunny who leads the crowd in pie-eating contests, arts and crafts lessons, and a chance to get wild in a bounce house. A free shuttle picks up guests at the Fontainebleau Resort, the Courtyard by Marriott, and the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.
Dinner: Talula Restaurant, a swank bistro popular among local foodies and their families, offers a special Easter dinner in its lovely back garden. The Gansevoort South Hotel and W South Beach are both just across the street from Talula.
