More classic and beautiful than it is high-style, this small hotel in Boston’s Back Bay offers romance, understated elegance, and some of the best guest rooms in the city. The hotel’s French restaurant, Clio, one of Boston’s best, will offer a five-course ($125) and a seven-course ($175) prix-fixed dinner on New Year’s Eve, with a champagne toast at midnight.
Viceroy Santa Monica, Los Angeles
It’s best known for its sexy bar and quirky decor, but the Viceroy boasts substance as well: friendly service, an environmental conscience, and clean, comfortable rooms, many with ocean views. On New Year’s Eve, Whist restaurant and Cameo bar will turn into one big fête, including two outdoor bars, hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, and dancing.
