Chow Down Suite-Side with Celebrity Chef Room Service

See recent posts by Kristina Fazzalaro

Celebrity chef restaurants have fast-become the brag-worthy accessory to luxury hotels. Nowadays, the likes of Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Gordon Ramsay call multiple hotel kitchens home, but the ultimate indulgence comes when you can chow down on fame-broiled [Ed. Note: We couldn't help ourselves] chateaubriand in the comfort of your very own suite. The hotels with the most bragging rights are going a step above by not only offering a gourmet experience in the dining room, but delivered to your door as well. Oyster has had the pleasure of sampling many delicious celebrity chef room service menus. Check out six of our favorites here:

Celebrity Chef: Jean-Georges Vongerichten

The Hotel: One&Only Ocean Club

Bringing a sense of tranquility to the otherwise-crowded Paradise Island, the One&Only Ocean Club’s personal butlers, beautiful pools, and access to Atlantis’s water park, casino, and other attractions make it one of the Caribbean’s best resorts. Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Dune restaurant is just the icing on the cake at this luxe resort. But what delicious icing it is — that you can have delivered straight to your room. Serving innovative French-Asian cuisine punctuated with Bahamian herbs and influences, Dune offers a mouth-watering and chic dining experience, suite-side.

Oyster’s Menu Pick: Roasted Peking duck with shallot confit, asparagus, shitake, and lilly bulb stir fry.

Celebrity Chef: Gordon Ramsay

The Hotel: The London West Hollywood

Just off the Sunset Strip, the London offers the highest levels of luxury and service at (comparatively) reasonable prices. With 200 beautifully appointed, 750-square-foot rooms, a rooftop pool and fitness area with panoramic views, and a restaurant from star chef Gordon Ramsay, the hotel attracts a sophisticated set. The room service menu at the London is a condensed version of Ramsay’s nouveau American cuisine served at the restaurant.

Oyster’s Menu Pick: Chateaubriand with red onion jam, marbled potato, and roasted carrots.

Celebrity Chef: David Chang

The Hotel: Chambers

Between the contemporary art (even in the guest rooms) and the high-design lobby, this lovely boutique feels as much like a SoHo gallery as a hotel. The stylish and comfortable loft-style guest rooms, free passes to a nearby gym, and acclaimed restaurant from chef David Chang of Momofuku fame make Chambers a rare find in Midtown West. Ma Peche, Chang’s hot French-Vietnamese restaurant, serves tasty dishes such as beef tartare and rice noodles with spicy pork. Meanwhile, his oft-loved Milk Bar makes scrumptious cookies, cakes, and the infamous Crack Pie on-site. And the room service menu offers select dishes from Chang’s eateries for the hotel’s lucky guests.

Oyster’s Menu Pick: Foie gras with sarsaparilla, malt, and brioche.

Celebrity Chef: Laurent Tourondel

The Hotel: W Atlanta, Downtown

The W Atlanta Downtown — with its sexy infinity pool and dramatic design — is a neighborhood hot spot. But beyond the funky and artistic vibe, the W also has all the amenities travelers expect from a four-pearl property: a luxurious spa, large fitness center, high-tech rooms with flat-screen TVs and iPod docks, and a celeb chef eatery. Chef Laurent Tourondel has opened a famed BLT Steak outpost at this W that not only serves up generous portions of beef in the restaurant, but also in the guestrooms. Room service is prepared by Tourondel’s staff and features modern American steakhouse fare with French bistro highlights daily.

Oyster’s Menu Pick: Braised short ribs with a choice of sauces.

Celebrity Chef: Geoffrey Zakarian

The Hotel: The Chatwal

The Chatwal, a luxe hotel in a landmark building near New York’s Times Square, evokes the glamorous 1920s from each corner of its property. Rooms combine high quality linens and beds with playful 1920s touches like backgammon sets, custom playing cards, and desks that look like steamer trunks. And the restaurant by Geoffrey Zakarian — The Lambs Club — has an old boys’ club feel to it, with red leather chairs and banquettes, Art Deco decor, and an authentic 18th-century French fireplace. The menu, which also comprises the room service offerings, is built around Zakarian’s casual approach to modern American cuisine.

Oyster’s Menu Pick: Sea Scallops, lightly sautéed, with pressed pork belly, guanciale, and potato ravioli.
