The sparkling blue sea, the pools, and the views -- these are major reasons why we travel to the Caribbean (well, that and the warm weather to actually enjoy the beaches, the pools, and the views). So when we find a gorgeous infinity pool that does exactly what it's designed to do -- trick the eye into thinking the pool water extends straight into infinity -- we get pretty excited. Incredibly, we found 18 stunning infinity pools in nine different Caribbean countries that have us dreaming about our next vacation.
1. Bel Air Collection Resort & Spa, Mexico
Overlooking a stunning beach by the southern tip of the Hotel Zone, this adults-only property oozes tranquility. Its serene red-and-white decor — with billowy curtains for ambience — and a somewhat secluded location far from the booming nightlife of Cancun set this upscale boutique apart from the mega-resorts located just north of it. The large, peaceful infinity pool overlooks the ocean, and is surrounded with comfy loungers. The outdoor space also features a whirlpool and swim-up bar.
2. Strawberry Hill, Jamaica
This former coffee plantation nestled among the steep and winding hills of Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountains is a little oasis above the very un-resort-like city of Kingston. The resort offers plenty of intimacy and privacy, with just 12 cottages on more than 26 acres. It also has the features of a larger property: an expansive spa, a breezy restaurant and bar, lush gardens, and an infinity pool. It may be small, but this pool offers gorgeous views, and lacks the rowdy children found in many other Jamaican resorts.
3. Casa Colonial Beach and Spa, Dominican Republic
Casa Colonial Beach and Spa is one of the most stylish and luxurious hotels in the Dominican Republic. With a gorgeous spa, a well-equipped fitness center, a pretty beach, and a lovely gourmet restaurant, this boutique property has all of the amenities of a larger resort. Though the infinity pool is small, the ocean views are beautiful, and it’s never crowded.
4. COMO Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos
Accessed via a 30-minute boat ride from Providenciales, this 1,000-acre all-inclusive resort on a private island is the definition of tranquility. With the world-renowned COMO Shambhala Spa, waterfront Balinese-style villas, doting service, and more than three miles of pristine beach, it’s easily one of the most luxurious and romantic options in the Caribbean. While many villas come with private infinity pools, the main infinity pool is drop-dead gorgeous, and looks out over the ocean.
5. Jade Mountain Resort, St. Lucia
Jade Mountain is one of the most romantic resorts not only in the Caribbean, but the world, thanks to its incredible Piton views and extraordinary design. The 29 enormous suites, called “sanctuaries,” are hands-down the highlight; through the innovative, open fourth wall, each has a sea view from the entire room — from the canopied bed, raised whirlpool tub, and (in all but the entry-level category) private infinity pool.
6. Ladera Resort, St. Lucia
Ladera Resort is an adults-only, luxury hotel set on a forested ridge overlooking the Pitons. With private plunge pools and lots of local furniture, the resort’s 32 rooms, which are completely open to the elements on one side, make a bold impression. The rustic, chic decor found throughout the rooms and common areas connects guests to nature without skimping on style. The clifftop pool provides dramatic views of St. Lucia’s lush mountains leading down to the sea.
7. The Bannister Hotel, Dominican Republic
The Bannister Hotel manages to provide two gorgeous infinity pools with ocean views, along with a modern spa and 33 spacious suites with full kitchens. The hotel is set on a picturesque marina, so swimming in the pools provides the illusion that you’re among the luxury yachts.
8. Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino, Curacao
The waterfront Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino is a three-pearl property with a bit of Vegas glam, just a five-minute walk from Willemstad’s historic district. Without a doubt, the Renaissance’s best features are its two saltwater infinity pools — one with a sandy zero-entry point — both overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea. The decks are punctuated by palapas and dozens of lounge chairs line the area. The pool bar is laid-back during the day and gets clubby at night when DJs spin.
9. Xelitier Vista Mare Samana, Dominican Republic
With two cliffside infinity pools, a white-sand beach, and a hilltop restaurant with stunning views of Cayo Levantado, the Xeliter Vista Mare Samana ticks many of the must-have boxes for an essential beachfront getaway. Steps from the restaurant, the hotel’s two infinity pools are set into the side of the hill with the same stunning water views.
10. La Maya Beach – Spanish Water Luxury Apartments, Curacao
La Maya Beach – Spanish Water Luxury Apartments is a serene property featuring luxury two-bedroom apartments, all with views of a harbor known as the Spanish Water. The buildings are centered around the beautiful infinity pool, which faces right out onto the sea and has several shaded areas and lounge chairs.
11. The Scuba Lodge & Suites, Curacao
This hip, vibrant boutique hotel offers a laid-back island vibe and is set in historical 19th-century Dutch colonial buildings. The small property features two small pools. The larger of the two is perched right next to the ocean, with rocky cliffs leading down to the ocean below. There are several lounge chairs lining the pool deck with a few umbrellas for shade. The second pool is quite small, located next to the dive shop, and surrounded by tropical foliage, with a small waterfall on one end. It stops short of having a beach, however — there are some sandy areas to lounge in.
12. Round Hill Hotel & Villas, Jamaica
Thanks to beautifully designed rooms by Ralph Lauren and breathtaking grounds on a private stretch of beach in Montego Bay, Round Hill Hotel & Villas is phenomenal. But the best part is the pool. Built into a cliff edge, the 24-hour infinity pool (beaming red and turquoise by night) is the most popular feature. Even with so many kids at the resort, the pool sees far less splashing than pensive ocean gazing along its ledge.
13. Jamaica Inn, Jamaica
Overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, Jamaica Inn is one of the island’s top boutique hotels. In stark contrast to the neighboring all-inclusives and mega-resorts, this upscale beachfront property is quiet, intimate, and relaxed. Decor throughout is a picture-perfect example of understated Caribbean elegance, with a soft color palette, chic marble details, and tasteful tropical accents. Private infinity plunge pools in the cottages are the way to go.
14. Sandals LaSource Grenada
This all-inclusive, couples-only resort is spread over a sprawling 17-acre property on the southwestern tip of Grenada. The resort has five pools in total. The largest is the main pool in the South Seas Village, featuring a swim-up bar and an in-pool volleyball area. It’s dotted with daybeds and flanked by Grecian-style columns; this pool is often the center of action, with loud dance music, games, and activities — those looking for a party will find their way here most days. Guests looking for a quiet respite will appreciate the gorgeous infinity pool at the end of South Seas Village.
15. Sugar Ridge, Antigua
Sugar Ridge has some of the best views in Antigua, along with an Aveda spa and excellent gym. It’s situated high on the side of a hill looking out over the west coast of the island. There is also a sleek infinity pool at the hilltop, facing out to both the blue Caribbean Sea and the island’s green forested hills.
16. Cocobay Resort, Antigua
Situated on a bluff overlooking the sea, this charming all-inclusive boutique and adults-only resort features separate cottage-style rooms painted in Caribbean pinks and blues. The rooms have a rustic style, featuring exposed wood beams, and some have private plunge pools. There are two sleek infinity pools (one on the beach and one overlooking the horizon) with many padded lounge chairs, some cabanas, and plenty of room to spread out. Each pool has a bar and drink service.
17. Robert’s Grove Beach Resort, Belize
Infinity pools are a rarity in Belize, but the laid-back Robert’s Grove Beach Resort is an exception. The resort offers three distinctly different freshwater pools that are rarely crowed. The northernmost pool has a cool water feature, with water streaming from the beams of the adjacent pergola. This pool offers cushioned wooden loungers, and is a short walk to the water sports area where guests can use the kayaks and Hobie Cat sailboats. The middle rectangular pool has the best view of the pier. The southernmost option — a small infinity pool with an attached bar — is especially beautiful when lit up at night.
18. Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort, Mexico
Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort is a luxury all-inclusive chain property located on the beach in a private resort community about 30 minutes from downtown Cancun. This property has two outdoor pools with speedy poolside drink service, and a private beach with cabanas and sunbeds. The infinity pool is one of the largest on this list, and overlooks the beach and the Caribbean Sea.
