Things got a little weird during our visit to the Wyndham Dominicus Palace Resort in the Dominican Republic. People all over the beach — seriously, everywhere — started love trains, and they didn’t seem to care who knew about it. (Oh, and this happened, too. And so did this.) But hey, we’ve never been ones to complain about a friendly atmosphere!

We’re not exactly sure what kind of gathering these Washington, D.C. motorists are joining forces for, but we wish were in on the action. Whether they’re there to rally or there to party, this group looks like they’re about to segue into a good time.

Talk about bathrooms with a view! The Ten Thousand Waves spa resort in Santa Fe may seem like a relaxing getaway, but this guy watching you do your business may not exactly put you at ease. When using the restroom in this Sailor Moon Suite, just proceed with caution.

Bathing suit season is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready to strut out stuff on the beach once again! Lucky for us, we met some very bendy friends while staying at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta who showed us a few great yoga moves.

Ahhh, there's nothing like kicking back by the pool with a tasty drink and some fruit munchies. On a recent trip to Cancun, we even got to indulge in some poolside R&R at the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort -- with a little whimsy, thanks to their playful take on tropical refreshments.

We here at Oyster love when things get a little weird. And at the design-centric SLS Hotel South Beach, the decor can definitely get a little lot weird, albeit the good way, thanks to the stylings of Philippe Starck and Lenny Kravitz. One of our favorite pieces is this Mexican wrestler wall-mounted bull in the hotel’s restaurant, Food by Jose. And while the food may be worth making the trip down to Miami, we sure don’t want to have any run-ins with this guy during our visit!

Sometimes in our travels, we come across some pretty cute creatures. And other times — we don’t. But this hungry brood of pigs at the Juniper Hill Inn in Vermont is definitely full of some lookers. Seeing their adorable faces scrunched up for the camera even makes us rethink our Christmas ham — and we love ham!

Just paw “47” to talk to our concierge!

It’s just not a “home away from home” unless we have our four-legged friends by our side. But luckily for us, the staff at the Tradewinds Carmel in Monterey County is about as pet-friendly as they come. In fact, Furball and Foofers consider the boutique more of a human-friendly spot where they can bring their owners along if they so choose. At check-in, you’ll have to make sure the front-desk puts room keys into the right paws!

We could watch him walk away all day

Tropical beaches offer some of the best people-watching opportunities ever thanks to its variety of scantily-clad subjects. And the beach at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui is no exception. Though we’re not exactly sure why our favorite über-tan beachgoer is wearing bikini bottoms that were definitely found in the ladie’s department, we can only guess that the hotel gift shop sold out of his size in Speedos. Or maybe he wants to make sure he gets tan, well, everywhere.

The ruggedly luxurious Hotel Punta Islita in the remote Guanacaste province is absolutely gorgeous — and a bit rocky and bumpy! But the hotel has taken extensive steps to to ensure that their guests don’t have any missteps off of, say, a cliff (yikes!) by marking plenty of warning signs like the one above. Or maybe this rustic hideaway is just be trying to tell us about the new trampoline ahead!

Expect the unexpected on the streets of Miami.
Expect the unexpected on the streets of Miami.

From the looks of this pic, it seems that opposites really do attract. We ran into our tough-meets-fluff friends on the streets of Miami, where playful Foofers and her mean-muggin’ buddy took some time to enjoy a walk around the gorgeous South Beach neighborhood. Though we aren’t exactly sure where these two are headed, we’re positive they’ll be able to turn some heads no matter where they end up.

Los Angeles is a city all about mind-body balance. The SoCal hotspot has never been in short supply of spiritual- or health-conscious residents, so its no wonder the Sofitel Los Angeles combined the two for a total body (or, bohdi) experience. In the hotel's zen-like fitness center, not only will you lose that Buddha belly, but you'll gain a few jewels before you're done.

We've seen some pretty make-shift hotel facilities in our day, but the fitness center at the Holiday Inn San Francisco-Civic Center goes above and beyond even the standard hotel hodge-podge. This guestroom-turned-gym is not only cramped, with an awkward floorplan, but it still has remnants of its former self, with headboards and standing lights getting in the way of our workout. We just hope they don't try to cram any beds back in when the hotel hits capacity.

We can't help but love us some eccentric décor. And when it comes to truly awe-inspiring (read: straight-up kooky) designs, few cities can top trendy Berlin. In one of the more, er, creative uses of space in the German capital, the Michelberger Hotel's courtyard has been converted into a giant-bird sanctuary, complete with an over-sized nest and egg. We just hope a mammoth birdbath arrives in time for our next visit -- we'd love to take a dip!

The Michelberger Hotel keeps things interesting with this larger-than-life décor.

Boudin Bakery is one of San Francisco's most famous foodie spots, known for making some of the best sourdough bread on the West Coast since 1849. The bakery is especially popular among tourists looking to try one of the whimsical seasonal loaves: Breads are molded into all kinds of shapes, from turkeys and snowmen, to adorable sea creatures such as crabs and this precious turtle. They're almost too cute to eat! (Almost.)

Who knew Spam came in so many different varieties? Well this docent at the Moana Surfrider in Hawaii seems to know an awful lot about the spiced ham-like product. [Ed. note: Did you know that "Spiced" + "Ham" = "Spam"?] In fact, the Moana staffer seems to be a downright Spam-ographer, regaling guest with the history of the "meat" and its rise to fame during WWII, when U.S. soldiers introduced Spam to Europeans and Pacific Islanders. And the world hasn't been the same since.
