The 10 Most Pinned Hotels on All of Oyster.com

See recent posts by Maria Teresa Hart

Most social media is such a brief flirtation. One second your friend is posting up gifs of a corgi in a cape, the next it’s bumped off-screen to make way for your aunt’s thoughts on Donald Trump. That’s why we’re so touched when our readers pin hotels from Oyster.com to their Pinterest boards. While Twitter and Facebook scroll on, Pinterest lets you nail down images and links to refer to again and again, whether that's on a "Bucket List," "Girls Trip," or "Loco for Lisbon" board. And when a handful of readers get to pinning the same hotel, well -- you know it’s gotta be a pretty special property. We're shining the spotlight on the 10 properties that have proven to be the most pin-able.

1. The Hedges Inn, The Hamptons

This charming East Hampton inn is a cozy gem. Built in 1870, it still retains its original Victorian charm while also offering modern comforts such as free Wi-Fi, contemporary bathrooms, and flat-screen TVs. With a total of 12 unique rooms, decorated mostly in calming and seaside-appropriate whites and blues, this hotel has several inviting common spaces, including a sunny breakfast room/bar and a bright den area with a computer and jars of sweet treats. A perfectly manicured garden has an expansive terrace and the lobby has a fireplace. The homemade free daily breakfast is creative and top-notch, served with pride by the caring staff.

2. The NoMad Hotel, New York City

Centrally located near Madison Square Park, The Nomad (which shares its name with the surrounding neighborhood north of Madison Square Garden) is a luxurious, impeccably designed hotel with attentive service but limited features (there’s no spa or business center). The hotel’s focal point is its eponymous bar and restaurant, featuring five separate-but-connected spaces that sprawl along the ground floor. Guests can order cocktails in the cozy, book-lined Library or order brunch in the sun-filled Atrium room, though they should be prepared for price tags that match the high level of style. The 168 guest rooms are luxurious (there are Sferra linens, Frette towels, and robes), and successfully evoke a bygone era with Persian rugs, old maps, and antique-looking fixtures. Hip travelers who are willing to sacrifice luxury (without sacrificing a popular scene) should consider the Ace Hotel just around the corner, which offers more amenities — multiple bars, a popular coffee shop, and more common space in which to socialize — at an often lower price.

3. Rincón of the Seas Grand Caribbean Hotel, Puerto Rico

This 112-room hotel is a decent mid-range option for families and wedding groups who want a large pool and beach setting in Rincón, on the west coast of Puerto Rico. While the lobby is pleasant, don’t let this deceive you, as the rooms are begging for some work starting with the bedding and curtains. (It’s hard to believe that the property opened in 2003). Mini-fridges are an additional fee and the restaurant and bar tend to shut down around 10 pm, meaning those who do not want to drive anywhere are simply stuck, and bored. Ocean views on the top two floors make up for some shortcomings, but romantic couples may want to consider the one-bedroom suites or nothing at all. On the plus side, the freeform outdoor pool with a swim-up bar is wildly popular, the beach boasts a wider stretch of sand than its neighbors, and sunsets are not to be missed.

4. Aqua Wellness Resort, Nicaragua

Aqua Wellness Resort is a rustic-luxe retreat set into a hillside overlooking Redondo Bay on Nicaragua’s Pacific coast. The resort has eco-friendly design, lush vegetation (expect to spot wildlife such as howler monkeys and iguanas), and rooms adorned with lots of natural wood; some units include plunge pools and stunning ocean views. The white-sand beach is secluded and beautiful, the restaurant serves simple but tasty local dishes, and group yoga classes on the ocean-view wooden platform are free. For a tranquil, unplugged getaway, this is one of Nicaragua’s premier options — just note that there’s no common pool (yet) and the climb from the beach to reception is extremely long and steep.

5. 1 Hotel South Beach, Miami

The luxurious, 426-room 1 Hotel South Beach in Miami Beach opened in March 2015 after a complete renovation (it was formerly Perry South Beach, and the Gansevoort Miami Beach before that). The 1 Hotel brand is extremely eco-conscious and the entire hotel has environment-friendly features including salvaged wood, hemp mattresses, and take-home socks instead of disposable slippers. Top-notch amenities include direct beach access; four pools, including one on the roof; three bars and fine-dining restaurantfitness center; event spaces; and Tesla car service within a three-mile radius. The property is relaxed, so if you’re looking for a bigger party vibe, check out the nearby Delano or Thompson Miami Beach

6. Warwick Seattle Hotel

The Warwick Seattle, a contemporary upper-middle-range hotel, offers a prime location between Belltown and downtown. Shopping and dining, many major sights, the monorail to the Space Needle, and the Link Light Rail are all within an easy walk. The 231 rooms are spacious, and have Juliet balconies or terraces — some have Space Needle views. The Warwick also has a fitness center and an on-site restaurant, though breakfast is only included in some room rates. Travelers seeking a more upscale vibe can check out the nearby Pan Pacific or Grand Hyatt Seattle, but rates are higher, and unlike the Warwick, neither has a pool.

7. Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa, Jamaica

For travelers seeking a large all-inclusive with plenty of activities and amenities, and a laid-back, easygoing vibe, Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa is a great choice. Located along the largest private stretch of Negril’s beautiful Seven Mile Beach, the resort is spacious and luxurious, with open-air dining, a variety of water and land sports, and enough entertainment and relaxation options to keep guests happy and relaxed. The resort is a bit removed from the larger strip of hotels and cottages along the highway, but is still close enough to popular local attractions and shops to give guests looking to explore the area easy access to the downtown area. It is also a ways from the airport, though there is a free hotel shuttle.

8. Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal Don Pablo Collection, Riviera Maya

The 630-room Grand Bahia Principe Akumal was brought up to the brand’s Luxury status in late 2014, and guests can now expect a top-notch all-inclusive experience. It’s directly in front of a sprawling beach with turquoise waters, white sand, and rocky reefs, and there are also 13 different restaurants and bars, including beach bars, pool bars, buffets, and a la cartes. Other features include a rejuvenating and relaxing hydrotherapy spa; kids’ club; and two sparkling beach-view pools. Rooms have attractive, if not luxurious, beachy colonial style, ample amenities including toiletry kits, stocked minibars (with top-shelf liquor), butler service, and a pillow menu. The complex’s other Luxury status property, the Sian Ka’an, is more luxurious and often costs about the same — but it is for adults only.

9. Revere Hotel Boston Common

There is not much to dislike about this 356-room hotel in the heart of the Back Bay district of Boston. It is in a central location near many popular restaurants and attractions, and is less than two blocks from the green line to get to all of Boston. Modern rooms are a decent size, and are stocked with extras like SKOAH beauty products, slippers and robes, and umbrellas. It all starts with a champagne toast at check-in, and perks include an indoor pool and fitness center. However, there have been some complaints of loud air-conditioning units and Wi-Fi can be spotty.

10. Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach & Marina, California

The upper-middle-range Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach & Marina is nicely located in a pedestrian area with a bike and walking path just outside the hotel. Multiple shops and restaurants line the 21-mile path along the ocean, while the on-site outdoor pool, hot tub, and tennis court overlook the Pacific. The 342 rooms are fresh following a renovation in 2013, and some have interesting views of the pool and marina, while others look out on the parking lot and street. Multiple event spaces meet the needs of social and business gatherings, and the proximity to LAX makes this a convenient choice for most travelers. Guests may also want to consider the slightly more expensive Beach House at Hermosa Beach, which also offers access to a paved beachside path and has rooms with kitchenettes.
