Sure, it might be a little pricey to buy your own yacht, but is there a price too large to pay for freedom at sea? Well, yes, probably. But no matter -- you can still hit the high seas at these hotels, all of which have their own private yachts for guests to charter. Whether you’re looking to sail through the turquoise waters of the Maldives or cruise the canals of Venice, we’ve got the right properties for you.

1. Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice, Italy

If the slow-going Venetian gondolas aren’t doing it for you, Gritti Palace has its own high-speed Riva yacht named “Il Doge.” Guests of the hotel can partake in different tours, from classic fishing charters to an exploration of Venice’s heritage.

2. Ashford Castle, Cong, Ireland

If you’re a guest at Ashford Castle in Ireland, you can charter its eight-person yacht “Cranki” to sail across Lough Corrib. The yacht has three set day-trips (each a different length of time), but guests can customize their itineraries should they so choose. It is recommended that guests bring a picnic for their sail. Guests can also take tours aboard smaller vessels led by Ashford Castle’s marine and countryside guide, Frank, who built the boats himself.

3. The Datai Langkawi, Langkawi, Malaysia

All aboard the “Naga Pelangi!” This ship is a hand-built replica of classic schooners, made of wood indigenous to Malaysia. As it sails around the shores of Langkawi, guests are treated to food and drink, as well as onboard massages.

4. The Wellesley, London

This posh London boutique hotel has not one, but two luxurious yachts inspired by Art Deco — MY The Wellesley, which sails in the Mediterranean during the winter and the Caribbean during the summer, and MY The Wellesley II, which sails in the Mediterranean. Both vessels have suites for up to 12 guests and plenty of shared space, from expansive living rooms to decks with hot tubs. Guests are welcome to sail from or to London, combining their yacht trip with a stay at the hotel.

5. Four Seasons Punta Mita

This Mexican property will charter all sorts of vessels for its guests, but it is particularly proud of its 55-foot yacht. The ship has space for 10 guests who may rent it for a six-hour period during the day or for a sunset sail. The best part? Snacks and beverages are included.

6. Soneva Fushi, Maldives

This resort doesn’t market their ship as just a yacht. No, it’s a boat villa, aptly named “Soneva in Aqua.” The accommodation at sea has two cabins (one of which has an ensuite bath with a glass bottom spa), a saloon, and a library. Guests can book a day trip or one-, two-, or three-night itineraries curated by the resort, or customize their own sailing.

7. Hotel Pulitzer, Amsterdam

Sail Amsterdam’s canals in style with Hotel Pulitzer’s ship, built in 1909. It’s a bit of a legendary vessel, with Winston Churchill sailing aboard it in 1946. Guests can join a group tour, or they can reserve a private excursion.

8. Montage Palmetto Bluff, Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina

Situated right on a lagoon and a river, the Montage Palmetto Bluff is a perfect candidate to have a private yacht. And it does! She’s a 1913 ship called “Grace” that was purchased by the hotel in 2004. There are group tours for guests, but private charters are available, too.

9. Four Seasons Koh Samui

This luxe hotel just debuted its private yacht, “Minor Affair,” which can be chartered by groups up to 12. Guests are free to customize their trip, whether they want to explore the islands of Angthong National Marine Park or head to the diving sites near Koh Toh.
