Fans of "Sex and the City 2" will almost certainly remember the opulent, over-the-top hotel the girls stayed at in Abu Dhabi. Turns out, the hotel is actually in Marrakech, Morocco, and Oyster recently visited to get the scoop on how the luxury resort is faring. Short answer: OK. The luxury Taj brand which previously managed the hotel dropped its association in September, and the property was reborn as the Sahara Palace Marrakech. It's undeniably luxurious, and its decadent rooms are among the largest in the city. But the hotel sometimes suffers from low occupancy, likely due in part to its location 30 minutes outside of the medina. The upside? It might feel like you have the whole hotel to yourself. Those looking for a secluded retreat and some Moroccan sunshine should be satisfied with a stay here.
Samantha, Charlotte, Carrie, and Miranda stayed in the hotel's
Royale Suite
, which is aptly named.
In the movie, the girls unceremoniously get kicked out of the suite due to Samantha's sexual shenanigans.
The ginormous
pool
certainly makes a statement.
So do the grounds.
The interiors are grand throughout.
Even the regular rooms -- like the
Palace Garden Room
pictured above -- are huge.
