Occasion: Impressing your clients

Where: Restaurante Feitoria at Altis Belem Hotel & Spa

Feitoria is great for entertaining with its sophisticated dining room and general upscale feel, and its wonderful Portuguese cuisine (with a twist) got the restaurant a Michelin star. Renowned Chef Jose Cordeiro has created signature dishes incorporating exotic touches to the traditional local gastronomy. The restaurant offers executive menus, which change daily and are made using fresh ingredients available at the market that day, as well as tasting menus and a la carte options.

  • Oyster’s Favorite Feature: The Olive Oil Tasting Menu, which includes three to six varieties of some of the best Portuguese olive oils in the market.

Occasion: Falling in love all over again

One of the recipes for long-lasting love is the ability to surprise your significant other — and at Panorama Restaurant, that’s easy to do. Not only is the international menu outstanding, but the restaurant’s location high above the streets allows for striking city views. For a quiet, intimate drink, head to the adjacent bar which offers a wide array of tasty cocktails and live entertainment.

  • Oyster’s Favorite Feature: The restaurant’s impressive wine cellar features great reds, whites, roses, and greens (yes, you read that right!), both domestic and imported.

Occasion: Having a casual dinner with friends

Where: Cantina da Estrela at Hotel da Estrela

The Hotel da Estrela has quirky, schoolroom-inspired decor that continues into the casual restaurant, which has partnered with a local cooking school to offer a unique dining experience. Patrons rate the food made by student cooks and pay what they feel is a fair price. The menu includes traditional Portuguese items such as cod and baby lamb, as well as pastas, carpaccios, meat dishes, and delicious desserts.

  • Oyster’s Favorite Feature: The dining room is full of quaint antiques including typewriters, old maps, and school books.

Occasion: Treating the whole family to a special meal

Where: Veranda at Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon

Despite the elegant setting, the Veranda certainly has kids in mind.

Despite the elegant setting, the Veranda certainly has kids in mind.

No family trip is complete without a good meal all together, and if it’s one by a renowned French chef that’s served in a beautiful room with serene park views, all the better. The Four Seasons knows some kids are particularly difficult to please when it comes to food, so it has created a special menu for its youngest patrons. While kids can choose anything from fish nuggets with vegetables and rice to pasta with fresh tomato, adults will probably enjoy the chef’s suggestions and the finely tuned entrees, which include lobster and vegetables couscous, sautéed crawfish with crispy endives, and duck foie gras.

  • Oyster’s Favorite Feature: The Tasting Menu with wine pairings and traditional Portuguese desserts.

Occasion: Eating like the locals

Where: Olivier Avenida Restaurant at Tivoli Jardim

The restaurant has attractive decor with contemporary and playful touches.

The Tivoli Jardim is home to two outstanding restaurants, one Japanese and the other mainly Mediterranean — both favorites among locals. However, since we’re talking about getting to know the culture (including the cuisine), we’re recommending Olivier Avenida. It serves an eclectic menu, combining Mediterranean and Portuguese dishes with international influences, and has a solid wine menu to boot. It’s usually busy for dinner, so better make reservations!

  • Oyster’s Favorite Feature: A DJ spins international hits several times a week during the dinner service.
