High Design
If Phillipe Starck is the mastermind behind it, you know its going to be cutting-edge cool and that’s just what the spa at the Viceroy Miami delivers. The 28,000-square-foot spa features 10 treatment rooms, redwood saunas, eucalyptus steam rooms, a media screening room, and a water lounge with marble floors, three jacuzzis, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay.
The Immersion Spa at The Water Club, spread over two floors, is all about sleak lines, great views, and a tranquil atmosphere — an escape from the hustle and bustle and bright lights of Atlantic City. The main feature is the sexy, adults-only inifinity edge lap pool but it also includes a jacuzzi and tons of available treatments. Name You Know
Some of us like to know what we’re getting into, and with Bliss (and W hotels) you can’t really go wrong. W hotels have a partnership with the high-end spa and many of the hotels, like the W Atlanta – Midtown, have a Bliss Spa offering treatments like the “hangover herbie,” the “peeling groovy facial,” and the “head over peels scrub and rub.”
Gansevoort Turks and Caicos, a Wymara Resort
The sexy Gansevoort has the only Exhale Spa outside of the US. Though the spa has only three treatment rooms (two for couples and each featuring its own outdoor terrace and rainfall shower) and a mani/pedi room, it delivers the top-notch services that one would expect from the brand.

Parrot Cay and COMO Shambhala Retreat
The world-renowned COMO Shambhala Spa in Turks and Caicos focuses on Asian-inspired holistic therapies and Ayurvedic treatments. It’s housed in its own complex of buildings and features a boutique, male and female jacuzzis, and an on-site Ayurvedic consultant. But the best part may be the ocean views from the tranquil spa pool; the nine treatment rooms also have great views of North Caicos.
Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa
A sprawling oceanfront property, the Hilton Papagayo has a salon and a spa with 13 treatment rooms; the best ones are al fresco cabanas, just steps from the beach with calming ocean views.
Rustic (Kind of)
The One & Only Palmilla is easily one of the most luxurious resorts not only in Cabo, but in Mexico. The spa, though ultra luxe, has a rustic, organic vibe to it. The jacuzzi, formed by rock, sits under a canopy of braided trees and there are numerous romantic cabanas in the lush gardens. The spa also has oceanside treatment rooms and offers al fresco yoga and pilates classes for a one-with-nature experience.
Offering eco-friendly bungalows in a lush, friendly setting, Natura Cabanas is a taste of serene, northern coast luxury in the Dominican Republic for a remarkably fair price. It’s quiet, and a bit rustic without TV or AC in rooms, but that’s the point, and the vibe continuous to the fabulous spa. It offers a range of body treatments, reasonably priced at $40-$100, in the small complex of stone massage huts, teak treatment rooms, and mosaic outdoor showers.
Romantic
Greenwich Hotel’s hidden gem is its underground spa pool, which sits under a 250-year-old wood and bamboo Japanese farmhouse roof. The pool is lantern-lit, to create an intimate, romantic ambiance, and is big enough for lap swims. The pool and spa were both designed by Japanese designer Mikio Shinagawa, who also designed Matsuri restaurant in New York’s Maritime Hotel. The aesthetic echoes the rustic interior of the hotel, but with a Japanese theme, and couples love the many Asian-themed spa treatments.
No other Los Angeles spa can compete with the Terranea’s size or features, precisely because, well, it’s not really in L.A. — it’s in Ranchos Palos Verdes, a ruggedly beautiful coastal enclave at L.A. County’s southwestern tip. The three serene private treatment rooms, called VIP suites, are themed after the elements; the earth suite has a redwood sauna and shower, the fire suite has a fireplace, and the water suite has a copper tub and views of the Pacific. The facility encompasses a whopping 50,000 square feet and has 25 treatment rooms as well as its own pool and outdoor hot tubs.
