Aloft Asheville Downtown
An upper-middle-range, loft-style hotel with a fun atmosphere
Polished concrete and hardwood floors, exposed ductwork, and floor-to-ceiling windows create a loft-look in the Aloft Asheville Downtown lobby. As this hotel is pet-friendly, a dog from a local animal shelter rests in an enclosure near the front door and can be walked or adopted by hotel guests. Stylish, contemporary furniture and free Wi-Fi are available throughout, and there are a pool table and breakfast bar. A two-sided fireplace connects a cushy indoor seating area to an open outdoor terrace where guests have both mountain and downtown views.
In downtown Asheville, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, parks, and attractions
This hotel is located on prime downtown real estate, and Pack Square Park, Historic Mast General Store, The Orange Peel music venue, U.S. Cellular Center, and local breweries are within walking distance. A 15-minute drive away from the Aloft Asheville Downtown is the Biltmore Estate, and Smith-McDowell House Museum is a five-minute drive; Asheville Regional Airport clocks in at 20 minutes from the hotel. All popular destinations, including the ones listed above, are reachable by public transportation. Renting a car is only necessary if you plan on taking advantage of nearby hiking trails, which can be up to 30 minutes away, or plan on doing quite a lot of Asheville sightseeing beyond the city center.
Rooms lack square footage but are well organized and contemporary; pet amenities are included.
Although rooms are small, the modern, minimalist layout uses all available space efficiently; even the 42-inch flat-screen TV and iPod docking station are skillfully placed. A green desk chair, yellow occasional armchair, and purple padded bench seat offer guests additional seating while brightly colored, stylish artwork adds to the fresh color palette of the room. The brand’s signature mattress receives superb reviews and Bliss Spa amenities decorate the countertop and spacious walk-in tile shower. A mini-fridge offers a chance to store leftovers from downtown restaurants and a coffeemaker resides in the built-in shelving. Pets receive food and water bowls, a welcome bag, and a bed as well. Upper-level and lower-level rooms may get noise from the on-site bar, pool area, or downtown crowd. There are no tubs except in the four suites. Some rooms include views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and downtown area.
Lovely rooftop pool and terrace, plus on-site bar and 24-hour fitness center
A rooftop pool and terrace offer wonderful mountain and downtown views, and the outdoor dog walk is covered in artificial grass and fire hydrants for Fido. The Blackbird restaurant next door cooks up a seasonal menu of revitalized Carolina foods while the on-site W XYZ bar and Re:mix lounge have local brews as well as unique cocktails and small plates. A 24-hour fitness center includes large windows for a bright atmosphere in addition to several different machines and weights. The big parking garage attached to the hotel does provide much-needed downtown space for guests but there is a daily fee.
