a few chain restaurants are within walking distance
The mid-range Country Inn & Suites Asheville
West is near highways and within a short drive of downtown and attractions. It delivers
all the expected chain brand amenities (free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, microwaves, free hot breakfast)
and you can walk to few chain restaurants. Some rooms have views of the Blue
Ridge Mountains while others suffer noise from hallway noise, but all are
clean and homey. It's a great mid-range value -- rates tend to be more affordable than at sister property Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Asheville Downtown Tunnel Road. The neighboring Sleep Inn West can be cheaper but lacks the Country Inn's pool.
Scene
A slightly updated chain hotel
A cozy fireplace and seating area, small
computer work desk, low ceilings, and large neutral rugs make the lobby of the
Country Inn & Suites Asheville West feel somewhat like home, but the design
is relatively bland and average. The wooden gazebo on the grounds has decent
views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a free breakfast buffet includes both hot
and cold items such as waffles, eggs, sausage and cereal. The dining room can
be crowded in the mornings but overall the Country Inn & Suites Asheville West
is low-key and a hotel typical of the brand.
Location
In a busy area, a short drive to downtown and attractions
The Country Inn & Suites Asheville
West is in a busy, more suburban section of the city, near the I-40 and I-26
highways, where chain restaurants are within walking distance. It's a 10-minute drive to the Biltmore Estate, a 10-minute drive to the U.S. Cellular Center, a 12-minute drive to downtown
Asheville, and a 20-minute drive to the airport. Many hiking trails are also within an easy drive.
Rooms
Clean and chain-like, with mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers
Rooms have an earthy color palette of brown, green, and beach, as well as chain-like dark wood furniture with a traditional look. Amenities include mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and radio alarm clocks. Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses and “Touch of Down” pillows receive mixed reviews, but families and business travelers may appreciate the ample square footage in the Extended Stay Suite (which also has a kitchenette) and One-Bedroom Suite. Bathrooms typically have shower/tub combos, granite countertops, and hairdryers, but the Whirlpool Suite has a two-person whirlpool tub by the bed. Some rooms have views of the Blue
Ridge Mountains while others get regular noise from stairwells, doors, and ice
machines.
Features
Small pool, fitness and business centers, and laundry facilities
The Country Inn & Suites
Asheville West has small fitness and business centers, the former with a couple of treadmills and a weight machine, the latter with audiovisual devices, faxing, and copying for a fee. The
pool is tiny, but free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and a free "USA Today" paper is delivered each
weekday. There is no on-site restaurant or bar (with the exception of a
breakfast eating area) and many of the facilities close at 9 p.m. or midnight. The free breakfast includes hot items such as sausages and eggs.
