Bottom Line

A centrally located, budget hotel with low rates, Athens Studios offers apartments with kitchens that can sleep from two to six people, studio style rooms and the new addition of lofts. Its sports bar and Fish Cafe provide a nice balance between privacy and
community. Located within yards of the Acropolis metro station and a 10-minute walk to Syntagma Square, it's hard to beat the area for convenience and activity.

Athens Studios

Scene

Clean, close-knit community with two bars and a cafe/restaurant

Run by Australian transplants, Athens Studios is homey and
welcoming (albeit no-frills), and is comprised of newly renovated lofts, studios, and apartments smack in the heart of Athens near the Acropolis Museum, with a sports bar, cafe, and Laundromat. The ouzo and beer flow in the lively bar, which, like the Fish Cafe, has indoor and outdoor
seating, some of which is communal bench-style. The bar and cafe are
lined with potted plants and trees, along with a few colorful paintings.
Rooms are sparsely furnished and decorated in IKEA style, but everything -- even
the Laundromat -- is kept immaculately clean. The lobby includes a bright bookshelf
and two desktop computers for guests' use.

Location

Central location within easy access of all parts of the city

Surrounded by shops and restaurants, Athens Studios is as
central as it gets. It's within walking distance of several attractions, and the bus and metro are practically right outside the door. The Acropolis Museum, Plaka, and Herodeion Ancient Theater, Hadrians Arch, and Temple of Zeus
are two minutes away on foot, and it’s a five-minute walk to the National Gardens, a 10-minute
walk to Syntagma Square, and 15 minutes to Lycabettus Hill. The beach is within a 20-minute tram ride. The stop for the Airport Express Bus is within 10 minutes of the Studios, and the trip takes about 35 minutes.

Rooms

Lofts, Studios, and apartments with kitchens -- but all are bare-bones

The rooms range from lofts to self-contained apartments. The lofts are a new addition after the recent renovations. The studios each have a small sink, mini-fridge, kettle, dishes, a hot plate, and a private, tiny bathroom with toilet, sink, and stand-in shower. The family
studios are spacious with large queen-size beds, kitchenettes, wardrobes, couches,
flat-screen TVs, small kitchen tables, and small bathrooms. They also have spacious, private balconies with small tables and chairs. The four- and
six-person apartments are large but each has bunk beds packed into one
room with a separate kitchen with a microwave, and a TV and lounge area. All rooms
have an air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and include a continental breakfast at
the cafe.
