Divani Apollon Suites

Divani Apollon Suites is a stylish boutique with a quiet, refined vibe. The hotel offers elegant rooms and suites with attentive concierge services, but it's not a resort where people spend their days lounging on-site. Typical hotel amenities -- pools, restaurants, and a spa -- are available a few minutes’ walk away at a Divani resort, but there is more noise and energy from children there. 

There are no real grounds to speak of, just a small, trim front lawn with a few ornamental trees. Inside, the lobby feels polished and cozy with attractive, chocolate-colored chairs arranged around a black-and-white centerpiece plant stand. Oversized vases and displays give it a grand atmosphere, but the small space remains cozy and personal. Instead of a traditional front desk, guests are received at a concierge desk, also creating a more familiar and welcoming feel. Guests -- mostly couples -- are drawn here for the contemporary and quiet atmosphere.

This hotel is near the coast in Vouliagmeni, south of Athens and Glyfada. The hotel is on a side street, just off the main road through town, with a bus stop a two-minute walk away for access to sites and other cities. It is a three-minute walk to the coast with several restaurants and a beautiful beach. A five-minute drive -- or a 20-minute walk -- will bring guests to the main part of town, where there are several restaurants and bars, plus a few shops. Glyfada, a 10-minute drive away, is popular for shopping and has many restaurants to sample. From the hotel, it is a 30-minute drive into the center of Athens, where iconic sites like the Acropolis and Parthenon, as well as a plethora of museums, are accessible. A major port in Pireas is a 30-minute drive away, and Athens International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. 

Rooms and suites are lovely and comfortable with modern amenities. Decor is similar in each room, with some variations on wallpaper or furniture choices. Generally, neutral tones and wood floors are accented by deep purple floral patterns. The look is appealing and pretty, but not stuffy. Quality wood furnishings and embellishments like artwork and funky light fixtures add appeal. Queen beds (or two twins) can accommodate a maximum of two guests, with a pillow menu to ensure comfort. Suites include a cozy sitting area with a sofa and chairs. All rooms have a 32-inch flat-screen TV, well-stocked minibar, kettle, stereo, and safe. Irons can be requested. Furnished balconies have varying views of the surrounding area -- some with the sea in the distance. Nice extras like daily newspapers, in-room umbrellas, shoeshine service, and turndown service add to the upmarket experience. Bathrooms are sleek and modern, equipped with shower/tub combos (plus small separate showers in some), hairdryers, scales, robes, and slippers. A full range of Olivia-brand toiletries include a free vanity set, soaps, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.

On-site facilities are limited at this hotel, but a nearby sister hotel has the full range of amenities one expects at an upscale resort. A free breakfast buffet is served on-site in a tasteful dining area with a satisfying range of hot and cold options. Decor is simple, but appealing, and the space is cozy. Room service is also available in rooms and suites 24/7. There is a small business center with a computer and printer, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, though it's for a fee (some packages include it for free). Valet parking also requires a fee. 

Guests have access to a range of modern facilities at nearby Divani Apollon Palace and Spa. These include two gorgeous pools -- one saltwater and one fresh water -- a beautiful beach, and a lovely spa with an indoor pool, fitness center, sauna, and beauty salon. There are also several restaurants, including an oceanfront seafood and Mediterranean restaurant overlooking the bay.
