Scene

Modern apart-hotel with stylish interiors that's great for long-stay business guests

Situated in Auckland’s CBD, The Quadrant Hotel attracts couples and business travelers looking for stylish base near the harbor area. This property is also popular with tourists looking for a self-catering option near the city center. The hotel lobby is clean and bright, with plenty of natural light in the central atrium and attractive furnishings dotted throughout. Apartment-style rooms mean interaction with other guests is unlikely, but there is a communal lounge area in the lobby for informal meetings. From the lobby, there’s an elevator to all floors. It’s worth noting that this hotel is located on a steep hill, which some guests might find difficult.

Location

In Auckland's CBD, a nine-minute walk to the Britomart shopping area

Located in Auckland’s business district, The Quadrant is a great base for exploring the city’s main attractions. The Britomart shopping precinct is a nine-minute walk from the hotel, and has a wide selection of designer boutiques, restaurants, and bars. For visiting students or academics, The University of Auckland is a ten-minute walk away. Auckland Art Gallery is an 11-minute walk away, or three minutes by car. The Sky Tower, with its 360-degree observation deck, is a 14-minute walk or a four-minute drive from the hotel. It’s also a four-minute drive to the main ferry terminal, for boats to Waiheke Island, which is famous for its wineries, beaches, and water sports. From the hotel, Auckland Harbour Bridge is seven minutes away by car, and Auckland Zoo is a 10-minute drive, or 35 minutes by public transport. Budget up to 30 minutes to reach Auckland Airport, depending on traffic, or around an hour on the train.

Rooms

Stylish suites and multi-room apartments with kitchenettes -- some with living rooms and balconies

The Quadrant has a good range of upscale suites and apartments, with entry-level Deluxe Queen Apartments coming in at 32 square meters (344 square feet). Rooms are stylish and feature details like upholstered headboards above queen-sized beds, and fresh white sheets. Expect to see earth tones like gray and brown alongside pops of bright yellow. Features include open-plan kitchenettes with sinks, microwaves, stovetops, fridges, kettles, toasters, and washing machines, plus a dining table and chairs. One- and Two-Bedroom Apartments have separate open-plan living and dining areas, and balconies with street views of Auckland’s CBD. The Penthouse Apartment has a spacious living area with corner sofa, a large dining table and chairs, and rooftop views of the harbor. All rooms have LCD televisions, air-conditioning, free W-Fi, and plenty of storage space. Irons, ironing boards, and folding luggage stands are welcome additions. Spacious bathrooms have a sink, large shower cubicle, and toilet, but no baths. Above the sink there’s a well-lit vanity mirror, and basic toiletries and towels are provided. There have been noise complaints from everything about building plumbing to traffic, so consider yourself advised. Additionally, rooms only come with a single key, which can be problematic for those traveling in families or groups.

Features

Restaurant, bar, and small fitness center, plus a hot tub and sauna
