Bottom Line

Located right in Auckland's Central Business District, the Waldorf Stadium Apartments Hotel is a luxury serviced apartment property with 170 accommodations ranging from Studios to Three-Bedrooms. All units have full kitchens with stainless steel appliances, washer/dryers, and flat-screen TVs, but be aware that some of the king beds are actually two single beds pushed together. As is the case with many serviced apartment properties, there aren't a lot of facilities on-site, but guests get access to the pool and gym at LifeStyle Fitness, which is down the street. There's a breakfast room with a morning continental buffet, which is not included. Those looking for serviced apartments in a hotel with more on-site facilities may want to consider one of the Premier Self Contained Suites at the nearby SKYCITY Grand Hotel.

Waldorf Stadium Apartments Hotel

Scene

Serviced apartment hotel with upscale condominium vibe

The Waldorf Stadium Apartments Hotel is a high-end serviced apartment property catering primarily to long-term business travelers and the occasional family moving to Auckland. From the outside it looks like a luxury condominium block, and the condo vibe continues in the interiors, where there's a row of mailboxes for guests to get their mail, resident-style. But the lobby is more in the style of a hotel, with a front desk and a rack of tourist brochures. The space has marble floors, a pair of elevators, and a few plush, round red-velvet chairs alongside gray leather benches, with modern gray-scale art on the walls.

The Waldorf Stadium Apartments Hotel is located in Auckland's Central Business District near Britomart, a transit center with lots of trendy restaurants. It's right by the Waldorf Stadium and a 24-hour Countdown Supermarket outlet. Public buses stop in front of the hotel. A 15-minute walk leads to the New Zealand Maritime Museum, the Sky Tower, and Princes Wharf, which has ferries to nearby attractions such as Rangitoto Island. The expansive Auckland War Memorial Museum is an eight-minute drive, or a 20-minute bus ride, while getting to the airport takes about a half an hour by car or little more than an hour on public transportation.

Rooms

Modern serviced apartments with full kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and up to three bedrooms

The Waldorf Stadium Apartment Hotel offers a variety of service apartments, all with full kitchens, dining tables, air-conditioning and heating, flat-screen TVs, and weekly housekeeping, with more frequent cleaning service available on request, for a fee. Kitchens have stainless steel appliances. including full fridges, microwaves, ovens, and two-burner glass stovetops, and come with toasters, electric kettles, utensils, and cookware. Bathrooms have washer/dryers and walk-in showers, and some of the larger units have separate jetted tubs.

Decor is consistent throughout the units, and consists of charcoal-hued contemporary decor with gray carpets, large windows looking out on the surrounding neighborhood, and recessed lighting. Some apartments have royal-blue accent walls offset with red and gray throw cushions, while others feature colorful art prints that resemble modern takes on traditional equestrian cavalry scenes, with throw cushions to match.

The smallest units have a studio configuration, with queen beds (and rollaways available on request for a fee). The One-Bedroom Apartments are only a tad larger and feature a queen or king bed that can be split into two singles. Two-Bedroom Apartments have a queen bed in each room, while the Two-Bedroom Family Apartments have one queen and two singles. Junior Suites are also two-bedrooms and have a king bed in one room and a queen in the other, while the Three-Bedroom Apartments come with a queen bed in each of two of the rooms and a single bed in the third.
