Lone Star Court, a Valencia Hotel

The vibe and decor at the Lone Star Court is
hip, fun, and original: Inspired by roadside motels and done up in a charming
retro style, it offers a refreshing change from the typical chain hotels. The
property is made up of a series of two- and three-story buildings with wood-paneled facades and balconies running along the length of each floor, set
around a large leafy courtyard. The lobby area is warm and inviting, done up to
look like a cozy living room. There's a fireplace, large sofa, cowhide chairs,
and leather armchairs. Guests will find plenty of places around the property to lounge
around and relax: by the semi-circle shaped swimming pool -- meant to look like
a watering hole, on one of the butterfly chairs by the outdoor fire pits, at
one of the picnic tables in the spacious courtyard area, or on one of the
rocking chairs outside each guest room. This is a popular place to stay for
couples visiting Austin on leisure, but there are also many business travelers
among the guests, who appreciate a change to the usual offerings of chain
hotels. Weddings are common on weekends.

Lone Star Court is part of a
large shopping, commercial, and residential complex located in northwest Austin,
called The Domain. The outdoor shopping complex is made up of a series of
interconnected streets, and has many upscale dining and shopping options to
choose from, as well as several bars and cafes. Downtown Austin is a 19-minute
drive away.

The guest rooms at Lone Star Court are inspired by the long, narrow
spaces typical of motel rooms: The window is next to the entrance door, while
the bathroom is located at the other end of the room. Dark carpeted floors
and white walls are highlighted with colorful touches: lime-green soft
beds, orange lamp shades, and turquoise entrance doors and matching accent walls that echo the soft blue of the retro-style full-size Smeg
refrigerators. There are other quirky decor details, like director’s chairs covered with cowhide, sliding barn-style bathroom doors, headboards made of industrial pipes, and lampshades constructed from wire. Bathroom are spacious. Each features a long black sink shelf, and a large walk-in shower with LATHER bath products. The fridges are extremely well stocked with alcoholic and non-alcoholic
drinks and wooden boxes full of fun snacks like tortilla chips, Cracker
Jacks, and animal crackers. Other useful amenities include coffeemakers,
irons and ironing boards, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi.

The Water
Trough, the on-site restaurant and bar, serves Texan-style cuisine, and is a
lively venue in the evenings as it hosts live music twice a week. The swimming pool
is shaped like a semi-circle, meant to look like a country watering hole, but
is not super spacious or ideal for swimming laps. The fitness center
is well-equipped with treadmills, weights, and elliptical machines, as well as
the requisite towels and a thoughtful bowl of fruit. Parking is available
on-site at no extra charge, and bicycles can be borrowed by guests for free. A
free Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the property.
