Hilton Darwin

Hilton Darwin is a large downtown hotel featuring a range of both business and leisure facilities. The look throughout the property is sharp and simple -- entirely on-brand for this corporate-friendly chain -- and there are plenty of common areas for relaxing or informal meetings. The lobby features an atrium style design, white marble floors, and large artwork done by local artists -- adding what's really the only characterful touch found here. As one of Darwin's premier business hotels, the ambience feels young and professional. Even so, the hotel is also frequented by families and couples on vacation, and the leisure facilities are decent. The pool is a hub of activity throughout the day and features plenty of seating. Mitchell's Restaurant is most popular during breakfast hours and doesn't have much of a vibe for lunch or dinner, but the adjoining cocktail bar is fairly happening. It features a polished urban look and is laid back, with plenty of comfy couch seating for relaxing.

Hilton Darwin is located along Mitchell Street in the heart of downtown Darwin. It's surrounded by excellent dining and nightlife options, plus shopping centers and tourist attractions. Nearby destinations include Crococaurus Cove and the Esplanade -- both of which are a five-minute walk from the hotel. Also, The Darwin Wharf Precinct, which features a large selection of oceanfront bars and restaurants, plus a water park and a convention center, is only 15 minutes away on foot. The hotel is around a five- to 10-minute drive from Mindil Beach, a long, scenic white sand beach that gets especially buzzing during sunset hours. One of Darwin's biggest yearly festivals is the Mindil Beach Sunset Market, which is a large outdoor bazaar that's held along the beach bi-weekly during the wet season. The airport is around 20 minutes from the hotel by car.

Rooms at the Hilton Darwin are spacious, well maintained, and modern, if entirely predictable when it comes to decor. Interiors have a tidy look, with light gray carpeting, mostly unadorned white walls, and clean-lined dark wood furniture. Most rooms overlook Darwin's bustling downtown neighborhoods, though some higher-category rooms have partial harbor views. Rooms are outfitted with comfy beds, desks and chairs, upholstered armchairs, and roomy wardrobes. Standard features include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, basic minibars, coffee- and tea-making facilities, safes, and irons. Wi-Fi is only free in higher categories and for loyalty program members (which is free to join). Suites offer plenty of additional space, ranging from 559 square feet (52 square meters) to 753 square feet (70 square meters). The King Superior Suites feature separate living rooms and kitchenettes. Both the suites and the Executive Rooms have added perks, plus exclusive access to the Executive Lounge. Bathrooms are clean and modern, with light colored tiling throughout, decent-sized vanities with large mirrors, and glassed off walk-in showers. Bathrooms in suites and Executive Rooms are more spacious and feature marble tiling throughout, plus long vanities with double sinks and deep soaking tubs (the latter are only in the suites). Toiletries and hairdryers are provided. 

Hilton Darwin is a large modern hotel that suits a wide variety of travelers, as the property is outfitted with a decent range of both business and leisure facilities. With Darwin's humid tropical climate, the rooftop pool is popular with guests and is often busy throughout the day. There are a few lounge chairs laid out around the pool, plus some covered picnic tables and comfy outdoor couches. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at Mitchell's Grill. Breakfast is a buffet and the lunch and dinner menu specializes in grilled seafood. Adjoining the restaurant is Mitchell's Bar, which is a laid-back, stylishly appointed bar and lounge. Room service is also available from morning until late. The fitness center is clean and well equipped with cardio machines and free weights. 

Business facilities include meeting rooms and a business center. The Executive Lounge is reserved for guests staying in the Executive Rooms or suites. Free extras for these guests include a daily breakfast buffet, evening drinks, canapes, and afternoon tea. There is no on-site parking, but the hotel does offer valet services (for a fee). Wi-Fi isn't included in most room packages but is available throughout the hotel (for a fee).
