Pullman Adelaide

Pullman Adelaide is styled to appeal to the modern corporate traveler, though it’s also popular with tourist couples looking for a convenient city spot. Inside the high-rise building, black and gray furnishings are contemporary and sophisticated, including plush armchairs and sofas, and dark tiles throughout the reception. Basket-weave pendant lights and modern art prints add touches of character to the sleek yet simple spaces. While the design looks businesslike, the lobby is lively, and it isn’t unusual to see casual meetings taking place in the adjacent restaurant/bar. 

Although the hotel is situated on the corner of two busy streets running through the very center of Adelaide, a parking lot conveniently serves as a buffer from most of the street noise. The hotel’s Hindmarsh Square location is smack in the Central Business District, but also within easy access to Rundle Street’s many cafes, restaurants, and shops. The popular Rundle Mall and the South Australian Museum are both seven minutes away on foot, and the Adelaide Zoo is a 15-minute walk away. There are several bus stops within a five-minute walk away, and 15 to 20 minutes on public transport will reach the Adelaide Oval and the Adelaide Botanic Garden (the hotel also provides shuttles to the Oval.) Adelaide Airport is a 17-minute drive away. 

Rooms are simple and straightforward, but modern and comfortable. They come with two double beds or a single king bed, dark gray carpet, and dark wood furnishings. Green armchairs and footstools lend pops of color. Designed to suit business travelers in particular, rooms have sleek work desks and plenty of power outlets. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide some sort of cityscape view in most rooms. Several rooms also have small furnished balconies. 

Guests will find a decent range of in-room amenities, including air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Ironing equipment and tea-and coffee-making facilities are provided, and minibars are stocked with welcome items like fresh milk, fresh-pressed bottled juice, and coconut water in addition to the usual array of soft drinks and beers. Several accessible rooms are available, and come with wheelchair ramps, temperature and light controls, safety bars, and roll-in showers. 

Contemporary bathrooms are on the small side -- toilet areas seem particularly cramped. While some rooms only have walk-in showers with fixed showerheads, others have separate, large bathtubs. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided.

Features are well-rounded. The hotel’s lobby bar, furnished with striped armchairs, black leather booths, and a dark granite counter, serves drinks and light meal for lunch and dinner. The bar opens into the full Salt restaurant space that has additional outdoor seating and serves tasty grilled meats, seafood dishes, and pastas for lunch and dinner. Its buffet breakfast (not included) is impressive, and focuses on local ingredients. Choices include fresh fruit, omelets, pancakes, yogurts, and a wide coffee and tea selection. A limited room service menu is available 24/7. 

The hotel’s indoor pool, separate hot tub, and sauna are all clean, but seem too small to accommodate the large number of guests who want to use them. The gym offers a good range of LifeFitness equipment, which is well-maintained and modern. 

The laundry room with four washer/dryer units is available in addition to laundry services, but fees for each washing and drying cycle are hefty. 

Business amenities include a 24-hour business center with four computers and work desks, plus printing, photocopying, and faxing services. There are also five meeting rooms, ranging from simple boardrooms to a huge ballroom that can accommodate up to 400 people. Wi-Fi throughout the property is free.

Self-parking isn’t available, and daily charges for valet parking are expensive.
