Bottom Line

This huge luxury property is just five minutes by car (or free shuttle) from the center of Kitzbuhel and the nearby Alpine slopes But with its convenient location, scenic beauty, and year-round activities for all ages, it’s more than just a ski resort. The 151 rooms are modern, and many come with private balconies, but they lack Wi-Fi and tea or coffee-making equipment. The real appeal lies in the amenities: free large breakfast buffets, a steakhouse, a spa with 22 treatment rooms, several indoor and outdoor pools, plus hiking and golfing. Organized activities, game rooms, and menus for children make the property especially family-friendly. For a quieter, more affordable option, the Erika Hotel is also well-located and has a more boutique feel.

A-ROSA Resort Kitzbuehel

Scene

Busy property blends ski lodge features, modern furnishings, and traditional Tirolean architecture

Sprawled over 160,000 square feet, this massive property is a classic Tirolean structure overlooking the nearby mountains and golf course. Inside, the foyer’s stately pillars and arched ceilings have a palatial elegance. Exposed rafters in the lobby and wooden outdoor hallways give the hotel the look of a classic ski lodge, but furnishings throughout are modern. Contemporary art pieces in the common areas give the spaces a more updated vibe. Outdoor decks offer spectacular views of the hotel’s valley surroundings. There is rarely a dull moment here; the steady flow of guests (mostly couples and young families) year-round provide a bustling and energetic atmosphere. Though there's always something to do, travelers looking for a peaceful experience may not love the constant activity.

Location

Scenic Alpine surroundings within a five-minute drive to village center, ski slopes, golf course

Just outside the center of Kitzbuhel, standing on the edge of a large pond surrounded by mountains, the hotel’s location makes for gorgeous Alpine views and easy access to most area attractions. The heart of the village and the cable cars to the ski slopes of Hahnenkamm Mountain are a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk away, and the hotel offers free shuttles to both. Golfclub Kitzbuhel is a two-minute walk away. The Town Museum Kitzubuhel takes 15 minutes to reach on foot. The Alpine Flower Garden on Kitzubhel Horn and Aurach Wildlife Park are no more than 20-minute drives away.

Shuttles are also offered to the Kitzbuhel train station, a five-minute drive away, and to the Innsbruck, Salzburg, or Munich airports, all between one-and-a-half and two hours away by car.

Rooms

Mostly modern with gorgeous mountain views, but poor Wi-Fi

Guests can choose between 11 room and suite varieties, ranging from 300-square-foot Superior Double Rooms to Suites starting at 559 square feet.

Room decor is tastefully modern for the most part, with neutral tones, carpeted floors, and sleek wood desks, bed frames, and cabinets. Walls may feature the occasional Alpine-themed prints. Checked bed runners and pillowcases and the tree-trunk base desk lamps are subtle, rustic touches.

Standard room amenities are on the minimal side for a luxury property. All rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs in the bed and living areas, safes, and charging cables in the work desks. Wi-Fi in rooms is unavailable. Closets are spacious but there are few, if any, dresser drawers. Minibars are decently stocked, but tea-and coffee-making facilities aren’t provided. Ironing equipment is also unavailable.

Bathrooms are modern and spacious, with dark tiles, granite sink tops with twin basins, and large mirrors. Toilets are separate from the shower areas. All bathrooms have walk-in showers with handheld and rainfall showerheads. Most higher-level rooms also come with additional shower/tub combos with handheld showerheads. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided.

Most higher-level rooms come with private balconies or terraces (with seating) overlooking the mountains. Large windows in Superior Rooms have equally stunning views.

Features

Free breakfast buffet, huge spa with extensive wellness features, and plenty of activities for kids

The hotel’s buffet restaurant, Streif, includes loads of fresh items and frequent themed dinner menus, plus separate children’s buffets. Streif also hosts the free breakfast buffet, where the impressive spread highlights local products. The upscale Kaps Steakhouse offers prime cuts and burgers served on long tables; the dining room has stunning views. Morning tea and coffee, snacks, and evening drinks can be enjoyed by a fireplace at the cozy Bar am Marktplatz & Smokers Lounge. Informal outdoor dining is available at the scenic Bar Terrace. Room service is available.

Non-dining amenities are extensive. From golfing, hiking, and cycling in the summers to skiing in the winter (ski equipment can be rented) and fitness classes available all year, there are several ways to stay active. The hotel gym has modern equipment and an adjacent yoga studio. The Spa-Rosa is a highlight, composed of several saunas, 22 treatment rooms, waterbeds, and locker rooms. There’s also a huge pool area with indoor and outdoor pools, many of which are only open at certain times for children.

Live nightly music at the bar provides decent entertainment. The hotel is especially mindful of children; its Kids and Youth club organizes educational activities, outdoor adventures, and crafts, plus an activity room with arcade games.

Wi-Fi in common areas is free. The one-computer business center in the conference facility is free to use. Parking is available on-site for fees.
