Bottom Line

With a prime central location near Burnham Park in central Baguio, the Holiday Park Hotel is not fancy by any means, but is a good value hotel with clean, spacious rooms that accommodate families and larger groups. Although rooms are simple and the windows and fixtures are old, they're large enough to accommodate families. Breakfast and limited parking are free, and there's a basic spa and meeting rooms on-site.

Holiday Park Hotel

Scene

Bright lobby, eclectic indoor/outdoor roof deck, and generally dated, spartan style

Situated in probably the most modern-looking building on the street, the Holiday Park Hotel is bright, if basic, in design. The lobby entrance is surrounded by flowering plants, the dark wood seating areas are topped with colorful cushions, and there's a wide tile staircase that winds all the way up the hotel’s four floors. Tropical plants adorn the lobby, as well, and artwork and light fixtures are inspired by a more traditional Filipino aesthetic. The other common areas are sparsely decorated and darker, although the breakfast area/cafe features several traditional wooden sculptures hanging on one wall. The indoor/outdoor roof deck -- similarly basic and spare in style -- functions as a multipurpose event area, as well as a mini-recreation center with a pool table, ping-pong table, and a few old workout machines. The meeting/event spaces feel similarly dated. The hotel is frequented by families, middle class tourists, and some business guests.

Location

Near Burnham Park, restaurants, and bars

Situated on a busy street and flanked by other hotels, the Holiday Park is a few blocks from the famous Burnham Park, about a five-minute walk. City Hall and a popular health food restaurant are just down the street, and there are many affordable restaurants within a 10-minute walk, including Cafe by the Ruins, Sizzling Plate, McDonald's, Shakey's, and 7-11, among other restaurants and bars. The Baguio Public Market is about a 10-minute walk, or three-minute cab ride, and Baguio-Loakan Airport is an 18-minute drive or taxi ride from the hotel. The hotel offers limited free parking.

Rooms

Clean and basic, if a bit dated and dark; all have air-conditioning, but no views

All rooms have hardwood floors and simple, slightly dated wooden furnishings; the overall look is just a twist on a lower-mid-range chain aesthetic, with perfunctory style whose dependence on different hues of wood isn't benefited by limited natural light. Beds are firm, with obviously older linens, but the rooms are all notably clean. Windows are a little dingy, with a second layer of tiled glass outside of them so there are no views. There is plenty of floor space, particularly in the suites, which have a separate living area with brightly colored arm chairs and a kitchen table, sink, and mini-fridge. Each room has a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi, although it is quite weak. There are free bottles of water, a safe, and slippers in each room. Bathrooms are small and have thin, wood-paneled walls and floors, as well as walk-in shower stall with plastic sliding doors.

Features

Free parking, breakfast, and Wi-Fi; basic spa; indoor/outdoor roof deck

The Holiday Park hotel offers free (but weak) Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. There is free parking -- a few parking spaces in the lot in front of the hotel -- available on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast is included in most rates and includes a few local egg dishes and pastries, as well as coffee. Noodles, snacks, and drinks can be purchased in the cafe all day. The attached spa is small, with just a couple rooms, but does offer massages and body treatments; in-room treatments can be arranged. The hotel has an indoor/outdoor rooftop deck with meeting and event spaces, a couple of stationary bikes, and billiards and ping pong tables. Free bottled water is included in rooms.
