Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
Massive chain luxury resort on beautiful beachfront grounds
This massive luxury resort opened in 2017 and towers majestically on a slice of prime beachfront real estate, with lovely landscaped grounds peppered with palm trees and lush greenery. With its giant casino (accessible just off of the reception desk in the lobby), luxury shops, and huge array of features, the Grand Hyatt feels like Las Vegas on the Caribbean. Luxurious, contemporary interiors are swish and elegant, with an eye-catching style and touches of island-inspired decor. Eye-catching blue floors in the lobby are paired with white hues and touches of gold; this color scheme permeates into other areas of the resort. Stylish, modern furnishings are accented by colorful abstract art (by local artists) lining the walls. Spaces are bright and airy, full of natural light and a chicly casual ambience.
Beyond the inviting interiors, there are plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces in which to relax, and outside is where guests spend most of their time. Six outdoor pools offer plenty of space, and they're all beautiful palm-skirted pools with attractive decks lined with loungers, daybeds, and cabanas. The beach is no less tempting, with a white sandy shore lined with loungers and clear turquoise water calm enough for swimming.
Clientele is almost entirely composed of tourists on beach vacations, and the property does a great job at catering both to couples and families with kids. Golfers are attracted by the course here, and there's plenty of other activities to entertain and satisfy a range of interests. It's also a popular spot for special celebrations like honeymoons and babymoons.
In the Baha Mar complex, right on Cable Beach and a 20-minute drive to Downtown Nassau
The hotel is situated on Nassau’s Northern Shore, occupying a prime location right on Cable Beach, a scenic slice of white sandy shore with crystal clear turquoise water. There are several other properties in the surrounding area, including the neighboring Rosewood Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar. Downtown Nassau is about a 20-minute drive away, for attractions like the Straw Market and the National Art Museum. Paradise Island is about a 25-minute drive away, and Salt Cay is around a half-hour drive. The Lynden Pindling International Airport is an 11-minute drive from the hotel.
Chic and spacious rooms, suites, villas, and residences with mod-cons and attractive bathrooms
Chic, contemporary rooms are sunlit and stylish, with a relaxed beachy feel. There are lots of options available across a dozen different categories of rooms and suites, plus larger Villas and Residences are available for those looking for more space and privacy. Even entry-level rooms are spacious, starting at 470 square feet (43.6 square meters), while suites are even larger and have separate living rooms, ranging between 884 and 1,232 square feet (82 and 114.5 square meters). There are two distinct types of decor in rooms. The first features blue walls paired with white furnishings that include elegant, ornate headboards and colorful art on the walls. The second decor type pairs a white color scheme with clean-lined white-topped wooden furniture and large black-and-white illustrations on the walls. Subtle cyan-hued accents in the form of pillows adds color to these spaces and a beachy touch.
One- and Two-Bedroom Poolside Villas measure 1,293 and 1,926 square feet respectively (120 and 179 square meters), and have full kitchens and added amenities like washers and dryers, plus 24-hour butler service. One-, Two-, and Three-Bedroom Residences range in size from 920-square-foot (85.5 square meters) one-bedrooms to 2,500-square-foot (232.3 square meters) three-bedroom units. Many residences also have full kitchens and washers/dryers, plus some add even more perks like a media room and pool table. All units at the resort -- rooms, suites, villas, and residences -- have balconies, either full or Juliet-style. Other standard amenities include 42-inch flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, minibars, electronic safes, and Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are sleek and modern, with large walk-in rainfall showers. Some rooms have a window (with a privacy blind) between the bedrooms and bathrooms. Upper-category rooms add soaking tubs.
Six pools, many dining options and bars, impressive spa and fitness facilities, Caribbean's largest casino, golf course, nine tennis courts, and kids' club
A dizzying array of features ensures that everyone is occupied, entertained, and satisfied here. The only thing that's missing is nightlife -- there's not much going on beyond live music at some of the bars/lounges. The six outdoor pools are just one of the highlights, all are attractive and skirted in tall palms and pretty greenery. Pool decks are lined with loungers, offering both shaded and sunny spots, and some have in-water loungers and rain cabanas that produce a cooling mist. Some pools have poolside or swim-up bars. Dean's Blue Hole features artificial cliff jumping and an inner-cave with an aquarium. The beach is another option for swimming and sunning, and it's a gorgeous stretch of white sand. Loungers are available, as are a number of water sports, including free kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling gear.
Dining options abound, with a variety of cuisines available, as well as several different bars and lounges -- though food and drink is a bit pricey here, plus tax and tip are added to every bill. The seafood restaurant offers live music during the daily happy hour. There's also the buffet restaurant, a haute cuisine Chinese restaurant, and a more casual Chinese option with hand-pulled noodles. The poolside bistro serves island fare like conch fritters and ceviche; the French-style cafe serves artisanal desserts; and a handful of beachside food trucks offer Mexican fare, barbecue, and gourmet hot dogs. There's also a poke bowl place and a daiquiri shack, plus a cigar lounge specializing in rum.
Wellness features are impressive, with the luxury 30,000-square-foot ESPA spa that has 24 treatment rooms and an extensive menu of massages, facials, mani/pedis, and treatments for teens. The fitness center features views of the beach and is well equipped with modern cardio and strength-training machines. A variety of fitness classes are available, including bootcamp, yoga, and HIIT classes.
The Baha Mar is home to the Caribbean’s largest casino (100,000 square feet). It includes 1,140 slot machines and 119 table games, plus it offers beach views. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course is a par-72, 18-hole course. There's a tennis center as well, with nine courts that include grass, hard courts, and Har-Tru clay courts. Other amenities include a number of luxury shops on-site, such as Bulgari, Rolex, Tiffany & Co, and Cartier.
Families are catered to with a kids' club for ages 3 to 12. The Sanctuary is also a family favorite, with sea turtles, sharks, and tropical fish, plus activities for kids like art projects and games. There's also an aviary and flamingo habitat. Wi-Fi is covered with the daily mandatory resort fee.
