Oyster Hotel Review
Aria Exclusive Villas and Spa
A small tranquil hotel featuring a breezy restaurant and contemporary lobby
Although the hotel is just a short walk from downtown Petitenget and plenty of great nightspots and restaurants, it feels far removed from the buzz of downtown and stays consistently peaceful and quiet throughout. The hotel is located along a tiny lane which is lined with resorts, small villa properties, and rice fields. There are few common areas and facilities on offer outside of the villa compounds themselves, except for a restaurant and lobby area. Villa compounds are surrounded by tall walls and feel seclude and private. The high level of privacy is one of the reasons the hotel is so popular with couples looking for a quiet and romantic getaway.
The hotel entrance is lined with tropical greenery and leads into a large lobby space with clean modern interiors. It features marble floors, comfy couches, a wood slab table and reception desk, displayed Balinese artworks, and potted tropical flowers and plants. The semi open-air restaurant is located above the lobby and features a similar contemporary decor, with cream colored marble floors, light colored walls, and natural slate tiled accent walls. The restaurant is busiest during breakfast hours and is often empty the rest of the day, as many guests choose to dine out for lunch and dinner as there are so many great restaurants nearby.
Quiet location in trendy Petitenget, walkable to great dining and nightlife, and a five-minute drive from the beach
Aria Exclusive Villas is located along a tiny poorly paved lane on the outskirts of downtown Seminyak in trendy Petitenget. The area features excellent fine dining restaurants, happening beach clubs, and a sophisticated nightlife scene. Petitenget Beach is a five- to 10-minute drive from the hotel and features some great oceanfront restaurants and beach clubs. Popular establishments along the coast include the W Resort Bali, Potato Head Beach Club, and La Lucciola restaurant. Other well known dining and nightlife options in the area such as Sarong, Merah Putih, Biku, Mirror Lounge, and Bambu are all located less than a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
Seminyak's Eat Street, or Kayu Aya Street, is a 10-minute drive from the hotel and is densely packed with restaurants and bars, fun cafes, and boutique designer shop. Seminyak Square and the posh beachside KU DE TA Restaurant are also located along Kayu Aya Street. Kuta and the airport are both around a 40-minute drive from the hotel, though driving times can take longer depending on traffic.
Spacious One-Bedroom Villas featuring elegant modern interiors, roomy plunge pools, and well equipped kitchens
This boutique hotel features 19 spacious One-Bedroom Exclusive Pool Villas. Villa interiors have a clean and stylish look and feature rich parquet wood floors in the bedroom areas and white terrazzo in the rest of the living space. Walls are light colored and sparsely decorated with Balinese artworks and paintings. Room are outfitted with comfy four-poster beds that have mosquito nets, upholstered couches, work tables, chairs, and spacious wardrobes. Bedrooms feature large glass doors that let in plenty of natural light and airflow, and open out onto roomy plunge pools lined with tropical greenery. Villas are surrounded by tall walls which offer a high level of privacy and have plenty of space on offer, with floor plans around 3230 square feet (300 square meters). Plunge pools are surrounded by wooden pool decks and there is plenty of space and seating to relax on by the pool, with lounge chairs chairs, an outdoor couch, and a daybed gazebo. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, free Wi-Fi, and safes. Kitchens are well equipped with stovetop burners, full-sized refrigerators, microwaves, kettles, mineral water dispensers, and dining room tables.
Villa bathrooms are roomy and semi open-air, plus they feature tropical greenery, slate tiling, deep soaking tubs made of white colored terrazzo, rainfall showers, and vanities with porcelain sinks and mirrors -- though vanities are a little cramped. Bathrobes and toiletries are provided. We noticed during our tour of the hotel the villas do show some aging and wear and tear, which is also a common complaint from many guests.
Restaurant serving Asian and Western fare, free shuttle services, and free Wi-Fi throughout
The hotel's facilities are minimal and there isn't much on offer outside of the villas themselves. Facilities are limited to a lobby area and a small restaurant above the lobby. The hotel offers a variety of in-room beauty and massage treatments. Breakfast is often included in room packages and is served in a buffet format, with a selection of continental and Asian fare plus a made-to-order egg station. The restaurant has a small cocktail bar and plenty of seating, both indoors and and along the balcony. The lunch and dinner menu is reasonably priced, and has both Western and Indonesian food on offer. In-room dining experiences are also offered, such as three-course candlelit dinners by the pool and seafood barbecues. A free daily shuttle service to downtown Seminyak operates from the hotel three times a day. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
