Bali Tropic Resort and Spa

Scene

Beautiful resort with lush tropical grounds and lots of local charm

Set on over seven acres of lush tropical grounds, the Bali Tropic Resort & Spa has a tranquil atmosphere. White and black-stone paths wind through gardens bursting with frangipani, bougainvillea, and palm trees, and traditional Balinese pavilions with sloping roofs and large wooden verandas sprawl out along them. Access to the property is through a striking painted carved-wood door similar to the entrances of traditional Balinese temples. On either side, serene ponds with small rock waterfalls, lilies, and tons of gorgeous tropical plants set the tone for the rest of the resort. The lobby is housed in a large open pavilion with white columns, gleaming floors, wood-and-thatch ceilings, and lovely wood carvings throughout. Several rattan couches with yellow cushions offer plenty of seating, while soaring ceilings with openings keep the space cool. The front desk is an artwork in itself, with wonderful carvings featuring painted frangipani flower motifs, and a ornate piece reminiscent of ancient Bali temples.

With its quiet vibe and romantic feel, the property is mostly popular with couples and honeymooners, but its many daily activities, kids’ club, shallow beach, and spacious rooms make it a convenient pick for families as well.

The hotel has a total of 150 rooms, all air-conditioned and housed in large two-story traditional buildings with pitched roofs and wooden verandas. Four-poster beds with thick mosquito nets made of natural fabrics add local charm, and burgundy or caramel accents in throw pillows, curtains, and bed runners are elegant touches. Some areas are starting to look a little worn, but rooms are clean and generally well maintained.

Flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, electric kettles, safes, and lightly stocked minibars are standard amenities, and all rooms have terraces or balconies furnished with wooden chairs and a table. Bathrooms are spacious and upscale, with walk-in showers and separate stone tubs, and an array of hotel-brand toiletries. Suites have living rooms and up to two bedrooms. Street-facing rooms may get some noise, so light sleepers may want to request a unit overlooking the gardens.
