Scene
Nice value hotel in Ubud with rice paddy views, two outdoor pools, and a spa
The Biyukukung Suites and Spa is a budget-friendly hotel that’s centrally located in Bali’s Ubud district, offering a bit of tranquility from a no-fuss property that overlooks rice paddies. Guests are welcomed on arrival with a cold drink in the informal lobby that has a thatched roof. The parking lot, crowded with mopeds, is at the entrance of the hotel. The property’s rice paddies create a rural feeling not found in most value-priced Ubud hotels. Floral-patterned walkways lead through the grounds, which are shaded by tropical plants and bamboo.
The main pool -- with a blue-painted bottom, tropical landscaping, fountains, and submerged stools -- looks like a lagoon, overlooking the rice fields. Two bathrooms are on the deck, where there are also lounge chairs, pool towels, and a terrace with patio seating. The second pool has a spill-over edge and a small deck that offers a few lounge chairs. A thatched-roof gazebo has lounge beds and pillows. The small spa features basic treatment rooms, a soaking tub with a skylight, a thatched-roof terrace lounge, and a hair salon. Overall the atmosphere is unfussy and peaceful.
Location
Central Ubud location on a quiet side street
Located on a side street off of Jalan Hanoman, the hotel offers a quiet escape from the busy Ubud city center. The highly trafficked main road is filled with shops, markets, and restaurants. The popular Bebek Bengil Dirty Duck Diner is beside the hotel. The Yoga Barn, Agung Rai Museum of Art, and the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary are all within walking distance. The Ubud Market and Ubud Palace are farther away, but also in walking distance. The Campuhan Ridge Walk and the Saraswati Temple are 10 minutes by car. The Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave, is a 10-minute drive. It’s over an hour drive to the Ngurah Rai International Airport.
