Bottom Line

Sapodilla Ubud is a small, three-pearl hotel located in the southern part of Ubud, about a 10-minute walk to Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. The 14 rooms here are all called Suites, and while they are lovely, with marble floors and wooden furniture, they are a bit small and bland to merit their name. The piece de resistance here is the swimming pool, a long, narrow strip with a gorgeous vine-covered wall running along one side. Additional amenities are limited, though there is a free breakfast service at the beautiful White Ginger restaurant, along with three parking spots and a shuttle to the airport and area attractions. Travelers looking for a three-pearl property with a bit more in terms of amenities may want to compare rates at the Agung Raka Resort & Villas, which offers a mix of villas and hotel rooms.

Oyster Hotel Review

Sapodilla Ubud

Scene

Compact hotel with pavilion-style lobby and grassy grounds

This small hotel is squeezed into a small lot of land, without much in terms of grounds beyond the narrow, lush garden that's mostly occupied by the outdoor pool and adjacent pool deck and a lovely grassy garden area beyond it with a few stone pathways. The lobby is housed in an open-air pavilion-style structure with high-beamed roofs and a few suspended lamps, and there are a couple of seating areas plus a well-stocked book exchange for guests who want to lounge. The property attracts many budget travelers, including couples and solo travelers, and it's not well-suited for larger groups or families.
