Tarci Bungalow

A family-run resort, Tarci Bungalows has a beach-hut feel right from the unassuming entrance. Guests have commented that the main drawcard of this budget property is its restaurant, particularly for its live music and sunset barbecues. The muted restaurant has purple walls, wooden floors, rattan tables, and red-cushioned chairs, while an attractive beachfront is lined with colorful bean bag chairs. Stone pathways, Balinese sculptures, and frangipani trees add some local charm. The property mostly attracts mostly low-key couples.

Tarci Bungalows sits along Jungut Batu beach, directly in front of Nusa Lembongan’s Shipwrecks surf break (Razors, Lacerations, and Playgrounds surf breaks are also visible from the resort). The resort can be reached by a 30-minute speedboat ride from mainland Bali -- where Ngurah Rai International Airport is located -- and guests can request to be picked up at the harbor in a buggy. Restaurants, cafes, and a number of dive operators are a short walk away, and the resort can arrange daily scooter rental for those wishing to check out the small island’s farther attractions. 

This small resort offers 12 simple rooms, including two Deluxe Rooms overlooking the pool, and five Queen Rooms and five Standard Rooms, both located in the resort’s garden. The Standard and Queen Rooms come with one double and one single bed, while the Deluxe Rooms come with one double bed. The Queen Rooms are located in individual wooden bungalows and feature attractive peaked ceilings, white sheets with colorful bed runners, and airy white curtains. Meanwhile, the minimally furnished Standard Rooms feature beds with orange blankets, patterned bed runners, and throw pillows; these rooms have a vanity located in the bedroom, rather than the bathroom, and no hot water or storage space. The pricier and more spacious Deluxe Rooms come equipped with bathtubs, wardrobes, and satellite TVs. All rooms feature attractive patios that come with either two chairs and a table or bean bags, and the second-floor Deluxe Room has an appealing view of the pool area and the ocean.

On the downside, there have been some complaints that the Standard Rooms are beginning to look worn -- plaster peeling off the walls and mold stains have been reported. In addition, some rooms have maintenance issues such as AC units that do not adequately cool rooms. In addition, Deluxe Rooms, which are in close proximity to the restaurant and pool, can experience noise from other guests, while the Standard and Queen Rooms at the back of the resort can hear roosters. All rooms lack fridges and in-room safes, and some lack Wi-Fi. Also note that housekeeping is only done upon request.

The resort’s Agus Shipwreck Bar and Restaurant is a popular spot for both guests and non-guests, particularly around sunset, with many commenting that it is the highlight of the resort. Located right on the beach, the affordable restaurant serves three meals a day, including a free basic breakfast. Indonesian and Western dishes are both on offer, as well as regular sunset barbecues. The restaurant hosts frequent live music events, and has a small bar area. Bean bags sit along the beach, and there's an adjacent small swimming pool surrounded by tables and loungers. While the area features a number of red umbrellas, some guests have commented that the pool would benefit from additional shade. The resort can arrange activities and tours of the island, including snorkellng with manta rays, as well as daily scooter rentals (all at an additional cost). There is no spa or gym.
