Price-wise, the Inn at Henderson’s Wharf is a solid value, considering its many perks, location, and elegant, traditional rooms. Oyster Hotel Review

Historical harbor-side hotel with a courtyard and private marina

Housed in a tobacco factory from the 1800s, all 38 rooms of this boutique hotel are on the first floor (private condos are upstairs). The inn has a historical and elegant vibe, with warm hardwood floors, original exposed brick, and classic decor throughout the lobby.

At the center of the property is a garden courtyard with tables, where guests can sit and eat free continental breakfast. Next to the lobby are a well-equipped fitness center and a modest business center with one computer. A 256-slip, full-service marina lies just outside, creating a nice view from the harbor-facing guest rooms.

The free perks at Henderson’s Wharf are plentiful. A butler will help with luggage, run a hot bath, deliver chamomile tea, or provide turndown service. A daily wine hour is hosted in the lobby with snacks and house-made sangria, and nightcaps are offered before bedtime. The inn is also one downtown Baltimore’s only hotels to offer free parking, which adds up to significant savings over the course of a multi-day visit. Typical clientele includes couples, business types, and the occasional family. The hotel is situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, but is still a five-minute walk from the heart of Fell’s Point.

A cobblestone cul-de-sac next to a private marina in Fell’s Point

The Inn at Henderson’s Wharf is located on a quiet cobblestone street next to its own marina in historic Fell’s Point. Known for its boutique shops, hip restaurants, and pubs, Fell’s Point is one of the safest neighborhoods in downtown Baltimore. Guests can walk to the heart of the action in about five minutes, and a free shuttle will take guests to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and the National Aquarium in about seven minutes.

  • Five-minute drive to Johns Hopkins Hospital (also accessible by free shuttle)
  • 10-minute drive to Oriole Park at Camden Yards
  • 20-minute drive to Baltimore Airport (BWI)

Spacious, traditional rooms with free wine, modern amenities, and comfy beds

The rooms at Henderson’s Wharf have a cozy feel and feature the original exposed brick from the tobacco factory. The decor is what the hotel calls “Hemingway-style,” and it includes classic wooden furniture, plantation shutters, and live plants. All 38 guest rooms come with a mini-fridge, coffee/tea maker, flat-screen TV, iPod docking stereo, robes, and a free bottle of wine. The double pillow-top beds are hypoallergenic and come with 600-thread-count sheets. All rooms have a waterfront, cobblestone street, or courtyard view. Maximum occupancy is five (with a rollaway bed).

Personalized butler services, fitness center, and free continental breakfast

The main amenities at Henderson’s Wharf include a well-equipped, 24-hour fitness center, garden courtyard, and a business center with one computer and printer. But the best part about the hotel is all the free extras: personalized butler services (just text!), 24-hour Starbucks coffee and tea in the lobby, Wi-Fi, self-parking, European-style continental breakfast, shuttle service to Inner Harbor attractions and Johns Hopkins Hospital, daily newspaper delivery, evening “wine down” (Monday through Saturday) with wine and snacks, and nightly nightcaps in the lobby (chocolates and orange liqueur).
