K Maison Boutique Hotel

K Maison Boutique Hotel, which opened in 2015, is housed in an unassuming four-story building on a busy side street -- but inside, stylish interiors make a good first impression. Public spaces have contemporary decor mixed with classic Thai elements. Blue-and-white chinoiserie throw pillows dot the lobby's white wicker sofas, which play off the sleek, white marble reception desk and lavish Art Deco chandelier. In the area behind the desk, there's a chic mini-shrine with hot-pink lighting that's housed in a wall cutout resembling a modern fireplace. The hotel draws mostly young European and Asian couples looking for an affordable stay in a convenient location. 

K Maison Boutique Hotel is located in Phaya Thai, a residential and commercial district with inexpensive shopping and a variety of restaurants and street food stalls. The area is convenient to public transportation: there's a bus stop a two-minute walk away from the hotel, and Victory Monument BTS Skytrain station is roughly nine minutes on foot. It's about a seven-minute walk to Ratchaprarop Station, where travelers can catch the Airport Rail Link to Suvarnabhumi Airport. 

Pratunam Market (Thailand's largest clothing market) and The Palladium World Shopping Centre is about a seven-minute bus ride or a 15-minute walk. It's a little less than a 10-minute walk to Victory Monument, erected in June 1941 to commemorate the Thai victory in the Franco-Thai War. Siam Square shopping district and MBK Center mall is a 10-minute bus ride.

Bangkok Railway Station is 20 minutes by bus or taxi from the hotel. Suvarnabhumi Airport is about a 25-minute drive from the K Maison, or slightly less than 30 minutes by Airport Rail Link from Ratchaprarop Station. Don Mueang International Airport is 20 minutes by car, but it can take twice as long in traffic. 

The mix of traditional elements and modern details found in public spaces carries over to guest rooms, but the look is a touch more minimalist. There's high-quality furniture, hardwood floors, ceramic vases, and Thai art. Blue-and-white chinoiserie pillows top the all-white, cotton-rich duvets and 300-thread-count sheets. The color palette is a neutral beige and white, and the walls are mostly bare. Suites add a distinctive black-and-white geometric-patterned floor.

All units have flat-screen Smart TVs with English language channels, mini-fridges, electric kettles, slippers, safes, international sockets, and free Wi-Fi. Suites and some upgraded rooms feature living rooms with free minibars and private balconies, and add robes. The chic bathrooms are a highlight, with attractive wall-hung sinks and walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, and they contain eco-friendly bath products and hairdryers. Some are spacious and are done in lavish marble, and have separate soaking tubs. 

Guest rooms range from 248 to 290 square feet, and Suites measure 764 square feet. 

The K Maison serves an excellent, freshly cooked breakfast for a fee, including Eggs Benedict and French toast. Asian cuisine, with dishes like grilled duck, egg noodles, and chicken teriyaki with rice, are on the menu for lunch and dinner. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk and in-room Thai massages and treatments (for a fee). There's no on-site parking, but nearby public parking is available for an extra charge. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Travelers with limited mobility should be aware that the hotel has four floors and no elevator, and it's a bit strenuous getting luggage up stairs, but staff is on hand to assist guests.
