Bottom Line

An eight-minute walk south of the Nana BTS station, this two-and-a-half-pearl apartment hotel is a good deal for those looking for self-catering digs in a central location, but worn decor both in common areas and in rooms may put people off. The hotel manages 92 huge apartments in a large mixed-use condo/office building. While all have kitchens and up to three bedrooms, decor varies greatly, and some units are worn and tired. Amenities include an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and an Indian restaurant with room service and an international breakfast service, and there's free Wi-Fi and parking. While it's a decent choice for big groups due to the size of the apartments, there are better-maintained value options with self-catering facilities, such as The Key Bangkok Hotel by Compass Hospitality

Omni Tower Sukhumvit Nana By Compass Hospitality

Scene

Apartment-style hotel housed in a mixed-use condo/office tower with a big lobby and worn-out hallways

Omni Tower Sukhumvit Nana is an independent hotel with condo-style rooms interspersed throughout a 35-story tower shared with offices, private apartments, and condos. The lobby is busy and hectic with gray granite floors and high ceilings with recessed lights, plus plenty of shops and restaurants. A dedicated reception desk for hotel guests and a few small seating areas with burnt-orange chairs create a bit of a hotel feel, but overall this seems more like an office building than anything else. At the back of the lobby is a secured elevator area accessible only by keycard. While the lobby is pleasantly cool, hallways are stuffy and lack air-conditioning, with worn carpets that are long overdue for a replacement. This hotel is particularly popular with Indian and Middle Eastern visitors, and it attracts tourists and long-term business guests, along with plenty of groups and families.

Location

Convenient location in the heart of Sukhumvit, a five-minute walk from the Nana BTS station

This hotel is located on Soi 2, about a five-minute walk (or two-minute ride in the hotel's free tuk-tuk shuttle) from the main Sukhumvit road and eight minutes from the Nana BTS (skytrain) station. The street is primarily occupied by other hotels and tower-style residencies, interspersed with a few restaurants and shops. The whole area is busy day and night. It's home to lots of bars, restaurants, clubs, massage parlors, and malls, along with a smattering of medical tourism dentists and pharmacies. While the nearby skytrain is well connected to area malls, tourist attractions are best accessed by taxi. The Jim Thompson House is a 20-minute drive from the hotel. The Grand Palace and the Reclining Buddha Temple (Wat Pho) each take about a half-hour to reach without traffic. Wat Saket (Golden Mountain) is 25 minutes via the Sirat Expressway.  Suvarnabhumi Airport is a 45-minute drive on the toll road when there's no traffic, while Dong Mueang International Airport takes around an hour to reach. Traffic can be bad in Bangkok, so if you're traveling during rush hour, tack on plenty of extra time.

Rooms

Huge apartments with kitchens and up to three bedrooms, many in need of serious refurbishments

The hotel offers Studio apartments as well as One-, Two-, and Three-Bedroom Suites. All of the rooms are spacious, but many of the units we viewed were also in dire need of some serious refurbishments. Decor varies a bit as units are independently owned, but guests can generally expect wood parquet floors, sparsely decorated off-white walls with dark trim, and simple light-wood tables paired with sofas and chairs in varying states of wear and tear. We did see a refurbished Three-Bedroom Suite with polished floors and light-wood furniture, which was a huge step up from some of the other units. Master bedrooms have two twin beds pushed together to form a double bed, while other bedrooms tend to have either two twin beds kept separate or pushed together. Amenities are consistent, with dated kitchens equipped with full-sized fridges, microwaves, stoves, kettles, and basic cookware and cutlery. All apartments have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with cable, CD players, and safes. Bathrooms are simple with shower/tub combos and plenty of counter space. While towels and hairdryers are provided, travelers should be prepared to bring their own toiletries.

Features

Small but well-equipped fitness center, outdoor pool, Indian restaurant with room service and international breakfast

Features at this hotel are shared with condo guests and are not exclusive to the hotel. There's a small fitness center on the eighth floor with a good array of cardio and weight machines, plus free weights. The hotel's pool is on the same floor and while it's not gigantic, it's big enough to swim laps. There are also a few poolside lounge chairs, but guests will need to bring their own towels. The lobby is full of small shops, including a massage parlor and a 24-hour minimart with basic food items, bottled water, and toiletries. There's also a restaurant, Inteak, in the lobby which serves a buffet breakfast with international staple items such as bacon and eggs, plus North Indian curry dishes at lunch and dinner. Room service is available from right after breakfast until late in the evening. Other amenities include free on-site parking in a secured lot, free Wi-Fi, and coin-operated laundry facilities. The hotel also offers a free 24-hour tuk-tuk service to the main road for guests who don't want to walk in the heat.
