Bottom Line

The Siam@Siam Design Hotel and Spa is a large and modern upper-middle-range hotel with a hip vibe and chic decor set in the center of Bangkok near Siam Square. The 200 rooms have large modern art paintings over the beds, and soft toned rugs set against dark wood furnishings. All have flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and minibars. The hotel has a small swimming pool and fitness center, plus a great variety of restaurants and bars to choose from: French to a stylish buffet to a rooftop Champagne and wine bar. Just minutes from the National Stadium skytrain station, there's instant access to the rest of the city, yet the hotel is tucked away slightly out of the main hotel zone. Wi-Fi is free.

Siam@Siam Design Hotel Bangkok

Scene

Design-focused property

The Siam@Siam Design Hotel is a cutting edge urban property that features some nifty design. The lobby and large restaurant downstairs area has an industrial warehouse look, with wide open spaces and modern art thrown into the mix. Metal tree-like sculptures, open pipes, and soft light completes the funky vibe. The loft-like restaurants and bars continue this trend, with plenty of plush armchairs and sofas to sprawl on and art pieces scattered everywhere. It's eclectic and refreshing, but not tacky nor gaudy in the least. The hotel attracts a lot of young scenesters looking for a cool, modern place to stay in the center of town, and the Party House One restaurant combines music, food, and art with a huge screen providing audio/visual entertainment and features swing, hip hop, and electro-jazz nights that are a big draw for the urban hipster crowd, both from inside and outside of the hotel.

Location

Downtown location five-minute walk from skytrain and near Siam Square

The Siam@Siam Design Hotel has an excellent location in downtown Bangkok, a 10-minute walk from Siam Square, which is home to lots of funky shopping and eating options, as well as the luxury Siam Paragon mall. The hotel is just a five-minute walk from the National Stadium skytrain station, which gives easy access without traffic to the rest of the city. As the hotel is slightly west of the main hotel zone, prices are a good value and one feels a bit off the tourist grid here. The only drawback to the location is that rush hour traffic in this neighborhood is atrocious.
