12th Avenue Hotel Bangkok

Housed in a 12-story, executive-style white building, the hotel contrasts its somewhat corporate facade with gorgeous tropical landscaping surrounding the outdoor pool and patio. Lush grass and green foliage, eggplant-hued umbrellas, canopied outdoor lounges, and palm trees give the place the unmistakable feeling of an urban oasis. Once inside, the lobby is immaculate and so white that it feels a little sterile. Modern clusters of soft brown office chairs and black leather couches are comfortable, but the lack of wall decor and low ceilings give the place an office-like feel. The slick wood floors in the restaurant and bar warm the place up significantly, but there is an angular uniformity to the black granite tables and brown lounge seats that add to the executive ambience. Outside on the restaurant's terrace, lush foliage and slated wooden furnishings lend a friendlier, more casual feel. Guests are a mix of business and leisure travelers, including couples. 

Located in a quiet neighborhood of Bangkok’s Sukhumvit 12, the hotel has a free 24-hour shuttle that makes the trip to the BTS Asok station -- where there are many surrounding restaurants, bars, and shops -- a matter of 10 minutes or less. The hotel is also a 15-minute walk to Sukhumvit MRT station, which provides access to attractions like the Reclining Bhuddha Temple, Grand Palace, and Bangkok National Museum in around 40 minutes. It is about a 30 to 40 minute drive or taxi ride to Suvarnabhumi Airport or about an hour and 15 minutes by bus. 

Options range from standard rooms to Studios and Business and Executive Suites with kitchenettes and separate living and dining areas. Decor is serene and simple, in clean lines and neutral tones with understated pops of clay and red, and framed black and white photography. The Deluxe rooms are extremely spacious with comfortable beds, free Wi-Fi access, satellite TVs, minibars, safes, and kettles for coffee/tea. Bathrooms are fresh and modern with cream tile, and have stall showers and hotel-brand toiletries.  Other options have additional features suited to longer-term stays. Studios feature kitchenettes with minibars, microwaves, toasters, small sinks, and cutlery/dishes, while Executive and Business Suites have larger kitchens with full-size refrigerators, separate dining/living space, and bathrooms with separate showers and bathtubs. 

The most striking features of the Sukhumvit 12 Bangkok Hotel & Suites are its beautiful outdoor pool and garden area, where there are loungers and umbrellas, as well as modern cabanas with black curtains and cushions. There's also a free 24-hour shuttle to an area with nearby shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. Wi-Fi access in rooms and throughout the hotel is free, and there's a meeting space for 10 people. The fitness center is a decent size with a nice variety of equipment and a wall-size window looking onto the lush garden. The full restaurant serves local and international cuisine including a plentiful buffet breakfast (only included in some room packages), lunch, and dinner until midnight; 24-hour room service is available. There is also a full bar with service to the patio and pool area. The hotel offers laundry and dry-cleaning services.
