Bottom Line
Little Arches Boutique Hotel is a small upscale boutique property with only 10 guest rooms. Due to its small size, the hotel has a private, luxurious ambiance, and the rates are reasonable for this caliber of property. The rooms are both cozy and stylish with sophisticated furnishings and attractive Earthenware pottery accents. The views from the pool and sundeck area are breathtaking and the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Café Luna, is highly regarded. However, the hotel is not located directly on the beach (it’s a two-minute walk down the road), which may be a drawback for some.

A peaceful, adult-only get-away

Little Arches is an adult-only property, except for when the hotel is completely booked by a wedding party. Due to its neighborhood location off of the main road, its small size, and secluded grounds, the hotel provides a quiet, relaxing escape.
The hotel’s buildings and grounds are charming, designed with Mediterranean-style architecture and upscale tropical garden grounds. There are plenty of arched doorways (in keeping with the hotel’s theme), statues, and mosaic tile accents. A koi pond as well multiple tropical plants surround the entrance and greenery shades the buildings throughout the hotel.
The lobby is narrow with a seated cushioned area. There is a computer for guests to use.
Location
On the south coast, removed from busy Oistins
Little Arches is located in a quiet neighborhood just east of Oistins. Oistins is a 15-minute walk from the hotel, or a three-minute drive. The hotel’s location off of the main road means the property is quiet and feels secluded, the opposite of Barbados’s other bustling resort areas. The hotel is a 13-minute drive from the airport and a 17-minute drive into Bridgetown.
Rooms
Upscale, attractive, and cozy
The rooms at Little Arches have all of the hallmarks of luxury – large four-poster beds; red drapery, accents, and wallpaper; plush seating areas; and watercolor paintings. However, none of this feels stuffy or pretentious. Just as the rooms are attractive, they are also cozy and inviting. Thoughtful touches, such as Earthenware pottery sinks, drawer handles, and toothbrush holders, add a homey vibe. The linen accents and patterned wallpaper is stylish and contemporary.
Little Arches only has 10 rooms in the hotel and each is a bit different, with similarities in the amenities and decor. Many repeat guests request the same room they stayed in previously. The Garden Standard Room, the smallest of the bunch, is still luxurious, with a large bed, a small seating area with a table, and a large bathroom with a sit-down vanity. The suites are spacious and functional, each with either a kitchenette or full kitchen, a decent-sized living room, and its own outdoor space with a whirlpool or plunge pool.
All rooms have safes, coffeemakers and kettle, mini-fridge, robes, iron and ironing boards, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and Mount Gay rum and rum cake upon check-in.
Features
Gorgeous pool and sundeck; the beach is a short walk away
One of Little Arches’s best features is its pool and sundeck area. The hotel’s triangular pool is on the small side, but is picturesque and inviting. Plenty of cushioned lounge chairs surround it, including a few double-seaters. The pool area also includes a terra-cotta sun terrace (which is partly shaded) that provides phenomenal views of the ocean. Since the hotel is situated across the street from a cliff, you look directly out onto turquoise blue water. Loungers, couches, hammocks, and tables populate the sun terrace and offer a comfortable and scenic place to relax, and due to the small capacity of the hotel, there is always plenty of room. Poolside service is available through Café Luna by the ring of a bell located near the lobby entrance.
Little Arches is located across the street and a two-minute walk down the road from Miami Beach, a scenic and popular public beach. A hotel employee will carry chairs and an umbrella to the beach for you and set them up, then retrieve them when you are done for the day. The beach has picnic tables and plenty of shade. For those looking for a property right on the beach, White Sand Beach Villas up the road is located on a beautiful stretch of sand.
The hotel’s on-site, open-air restaurant, Café Luna, is situated on the top of the hotel and offers gorgeous views of the ocean. The restaurant is pleasingly decorated with mosaic tile detail, green plants draped around its fenced perimeter, and star lamps that light up at night. Serving both Caribbean and Mediterranean flavors, the cafe is one of the top-rated restaurants in the area.
There is a small treatment room in the back of the hotel where guests can have massages and body treatments. However, it is not air-conditioned so many guests choose to have their treatment in-room. The hotel also offers a courtesy changing room after checkout for guests awaiting flights.
There are a few bikes on-site that guests are free to use (no charge) and there is free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
