Ana’s Guest House B&B

Scene

A low-key B&B with a simple, homey atmosphere

Ana's Guest House has a welcoming, homey feel. While furnishings are simple and the common areas not overly spacious, the B&B still captures the warm, lived-in vibe that B&B-goers seek, and the decor is nicer than in many similar-caliber lodgings. There's a narrow, furnished terrace that looks out on a garden, where guests can lounge throughout the day. The breakfast area -- a dining room populated with mismatched small tables -- is made friendlier by decorative plates along one wall and an overflowing cork board with glowing messages left by past guests. The living room -- a bright room with wood floors, sofas, and a TV -- is a relaxed place to lounge with a cup of tea or a book from the library.

The B&B sits on the upper floors of an apartment building looking out on the Avenida Diagonal, one of Barcelona's main avenues. Thankfully, not much noise carries into the building, and many of the B&B's large, beautiful windows look out the back, keeping guests insulated from the traffic.

Rooms

Ranging in size and style, but comfortable, clean, and homey

The size and style of rooms at Ana's Guest House range from spacious and elegant to smaller and more sparse, but all are generally warm and welcoming, with knitted blankets and decorative mirrors. There are seven rooms, including one two-room Apartment Suite, but not all have their own en suite bathrooms. Some are shared, but all are clean and well-kept. The rooms with large, stain-glassed windows -- such as rooms Seven and Four -- are significantly more cheery, while windowless rooms, such as number One, feel more drab. There is little decoration on the walls, but a few mirrors and flowery prints liven up the rooms. Most rooms have a flat-screen TV, but they may be a bit small for the space. Some rooms have private balconies, and all have either a walk-in glass shower or a combination shower/tub.

Features

Free breakfast and Wi-Fi, an eager host, living room with library, small terrace

Like most B&Bs, Ana's Guest House has little in the ways of added features. The free daily breakfast is popular, with a variety of options that include breads, meats, cheeses,  jams, yogurt, and cereals. The B&B also offers free Wi-Fi, and the owner, Ana, is eager to recommend activities and book reservations. The living room has a library from which guests can borrow books.
