Review Summary

Photos and Review by

  • Schoolyard in the back of hotel can make for lots of noise
  • Room decor looks a bit mismatched, with red couches and blue accent walls
  • Hard beds (soft mattress toppers available upon request)
  • Fitness center is tiny, with just a few machines

Bottom Line

The Atrium Palace has more of a classic vibe than the other Acta properties in Barcelona, as it features a posh lobby with gleaming marble floors and vaulted ceilings. However, the grandeur diminishes considerably in the rooms, which have a casual vibe and a somewhat mismatched mix of generic dark wood furnishings, red couches, and blue accent walls. The marble bathrooms are a high point -- especially the ones in the suites that offer Jacuzzi tubs and separate showers. The hotel features a pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center, and meeting rooms, though they are all on the small side. Highlights include the airy L'Atrium Bar and the arty L'Atrium Gallery.

Map of Hotel Acta Atrium Palace

The Hotel Acta Atrium Palace offers a convenient location in the Eixample district, right by the Passeig de Gracia thoroughfare. This main avenue is a great place for shopping and checking out modernist landmarks, including works by famed architect Antoni Gaudi. One of Gaudi's most whimsical creations, known as Casa Batlló, is a nine-minute walk from the hotel. This distinctive building looks straight out of a fairytale and can be explored both inside and out, since it currently operates as a museum. Public transportation is also nearby, with the Passeig de Gracia Metro Station less than a five-minute walk from the property.

Eixample is home to the city's best examples of modernist architecture, including the Casa Milá building and Sagrada Família church that were both designed by Antoni Gaudí. In addition to its eccentric architecture, this district is known for a vibrant nightlife scene, with many trendy bars and clubs found here, especially in the gay section (which is popularly known as Gayxample).
