It offers free Wi-Fi and a wonderful Catalan restaurant next door, as well as sleek, sexy style throughout (picture slate accents and streamlined furniture). Some rooms are small and have two twin beds pushed together to make a double, but are modern with flat-screen TVs. The Banys Orientals is a great value considering its sleek look and convenient location.

The family-owned Hotel Banys Orientals is in a lovely**, **18th-century mansion on a charm-filled, tree-lined street. The stylish hotel fits into its super stylish neighborhood easily. There’s not much lobby space -- the front desk is squeezed into a small area -- but black and white tiles and fresh flowers give the entrance an inviting feel. There's a computer station in the lobby that guests can use, or they can peruse a selection of newspapers and magazines. Each floor has a communal minibar, with free fresh fruit and filtered water. Wi-Fi is free.Senyor Parellada, the swanky hotel restaurant next door, is popular with guests and locals alike. It’s a bit of a scene; reserving in advance is a good move. An abundant, quality breakfast buffet is offered for a fee.

The Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar is a two-minute walk away, and La Rambla is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. The Jaume Metro Station is three blocks away, and the Franca train station, which has an airport connection, is a pretty seven-minute walk. Ciutadella Park, Barceloneta Beach, and the Santa Caterina Market are within 15 minutes by foot.

Rooms are small, but they’re spotless and elegantly decorated, and the beds are big and comfy. There’s a fridge stocked with free water, free Wi-Fi, and large flat-sreen TVs. The color scheme focuses on a combo of sleek black and white, furniture is modern and posh, and cool photos, prints, and drawings hang in oversize frames. Bathrooms (which are small) have black tiles, stylish square sinks, and plenty of toiletries. Standard rooms are tight, but suites are spacious and elegant, with gorgeous hardwood floors. Rooms can get noisy, especially the ones facing the bustling street.
